I recently revisited the 1 hour Spa World Touring Car 800 race, and for the past couple of weeks or so have been enjoying trying out different cars for the race.

Today I used the Hyundai N 2025 VGT (Gr.1) and, about 20 minutes into the race, was already leading the field by a little more than 20 seconds. The weather radar showed rain approaching, but the indicator showed mainly pale green with a just few small pale blue patches. The weather front was moving slowly and I should have had an easy run to my pit stop to change tyres when it became necessary to do so.

As I was leading the race, I was certainly not "pushing" things but, while taking a relatively leisurely exit from a not particularly challenging corner, the car suddenly span violently and dumped me in the gravel. The weather front was still showing as some distance from the track, and the bar showing how wet the track surface is was not registering any dampness at all.

I tried to drive out of the gravel but was completely unable to move. I tried every gear and tried everything from tick-over to full power, but the car did not budge an inch, so I finally gave up and aborted the race. I have two questions:
Has anyone else experienced the same thing?
Is there anything I could have done to avoid aborting the race?

It sounds like your controller/wheel disconnected. There are a few possible reasons why that might happen but it's impossible to tell now.

They couldn't have aborted the race with a disconnected controller.

The violent spin suggests something happened with the grip. As if the handbrake would become stuck on or there was some glitch with the tyre physics.

@watashi49uk did you save the replay?
