Hi there everyone, I've been playing for about a week now and doing pretty well at it (15A/10B), but there's a few things that I've now wasted DAYS on collectively, that I still cannot get Gold's in (specifically B license tests 5, 6, 7, & 10, and the NASCAR Outside Driving-Daytona). I realize that the future challenges of the game will probably have me just as frustrated, but I just don't have the patience with GT this time around like I've had for all of the others. That being said, I'm looking for some folks' thoughts, tips, etc. about 'Driving Options' to best accomplish these and future time-trial-y type events. (MT vs. AT? Traction Control, Active Steering, ASM, & ABS settings). It makes me really mad that some of the cars in the Demo videos for these tests don't even hit the Gold times... anyone else notice that?
Anyway, PLEASE take a sec and help point me in the right direction.
Thanks a bunch & Happy New Year!

Chris

i've been trying for a long time, but golded them all, the outside corner at daytona took especially long, you have to be real gentle with the joystick and keep flooring it, with abs turned off (don't know if that matters here though)

Well, alot of questions an points there but I will try and help.

Firstly being 'stuck' - you always have the option of moving to another level then returning to the 'problem' level or test at a later date. For licenses, you don't have to gold every one, you could just pass the license with a bronze, get on with A or B spec and return to your license at a later date.

Same with A or B spec, if you are stuck on a level, the keep repeating this (or a previous level) to earn enough experience points to move up.

Keep reading this forum and looking at current, previous and sticky threads, this will give you alot of information about how to progress in the game and how to avoid making expensive and costly mistakes by buying or choosing an unsuitable car for a particular level.

Manual transmissions are better because you have more control of changing gears, but it takes time to adjust and get used to manual if you are changing from automatic. Don't try and run before you can walk, start with an easy car on an easy track (like high speed ring) and gradually practice on harder tracks that require more gear changes.

Driving aids, it's probably better to play with them all turned off, you will find the game more rewarding, yes, also MUCH harder, but this is what racing is about, learning a track, learning the braking points etc etc..

However, some people do use some driving aids for some events, again, lookng at this forum will help you know what, when and why.

Again, don't try and run before you can walk, try something easy then slowly progress to something harder and faster.

Hope this helps, in some way...

Good luck..

👍

if you are using a DS3 controller and trying to use the x and square buttons try setting your configuration with the R2 and L2 buttons for gas and brake. It is much easier to control the throttle with the R2 button than the x button.IMO

Thanks everyone for the responses! I'll try out all of your tips and check out the recommended thread. I feel like I should be getting the Golds in everything before progressing much past that point, just the perfectionist in me, I guess.

I managed all golds in the NASCAR seasonal events..and if I can do it, anyone genuinely can.

As for all golds in licences...I'll never manage it. I hate the overtaking events...have to go a whole lap or two without contact with another car, or making one small slip up and going of the track, and having to do it again. Bleurgh.
