Hi everybody
Am i the only person who is really really annoyed of the 24 minutes races. I have just raced the 24 minutes of Le Mans in my delta wing and i had been in the lead since lap 4 and when the time is up I end i 13th place because i was more than 50 seconds in front of 2nd place. That really pisses me of that i just spend 24 minutes on abselutely nothing i really dont see the point why does it not work in the same way as the real le mans that the car that had run the furthest is the winner!!

I just found out on another thread that if you drive around the track but pull up before the line and wait for the timer to run out you can win the race by doing just one lap , haven't tried it out yet though.

Not sure I understand. You ran the race legitamtely, but were penalized becaause your lead was too big. Is that correct?

Dont believe everything you read. With laps under 4 minutes at LeMans there is no way to win doing only 1 lap.
Having not run any races after unlocking online I can not say at which lap to stop.
But the theroy is keep a eye on the timer, when you see you will not be able to complete a lap with the remaining time, stop before the finish line. The only problem is making sure you are far enough ahead so they do not pass you before the timer runs out. When time expires cross the line.
This is a known bug that has been "fixed"(patched) yet still is flawed.

I had same problem last week with other 10/15 min races. There was a small update after 1,03 and it solved the problem.I did a 24 min race today and got first place but before i finished the last lap after timer went red the other cars crossed the line and pushed me down to 16th that was untill i crossed the line and and then it changed to 1st and got 3 stars and full pay out.

So that won't work any more? I raced De Sarthe crossed the line on 7th lap (I think) with 2 & a half mins to go , I knew I couldn't get around again before some of the other cars crossed the line . V.frustrating.

It should work. I meant they tried to fix the timer. Ive heard its still flawed but does award you the correct stars and money now.(with all updates)

It would be better if they just worked out the distance travelled in the 24 minutes though wouldn't it?

I dont think so. In real racing every car behind the leader has to complete the last lap started by the leader regardless of time. So if no cars were a lap down, everyone would cover the same distance.
I guess in your theroy it would work, but that defeats the purpose of a finish line, if everyone just stopped when the timer ran out.
But the way the game has it working right now it recognizes the first car to cross the line as the winner regardless of cars said position.

Yeah you're right, I guess I didn't think that through before posting it.

Why they didn't do 2.4hrs instead is anyones guess?

That would have been just the right length for a great race without becoming boring.

All I know is that with GT5 I was 19 hours into the le Mons race and had to go to work. Left the game paused and came home to a house with blinking clocks and a reset PS3. I never had the heart to run it again. Needed a save function for the 24 hour races. We are not professional racers without jobs.

I hope this will not upset you too much, but there was an option to suspend the race when you pitted.

Sorry! :)

It's because PD wanted to show off their Weather & time change effects. If it was a straight number of laps, people would complain that it's weird that an entire day goes by in 24 minutes.

If I'm understanding you correctly, I had the same thing happen. So when I retried it, I went around one more lap. It showed my place as 12th even though all the other cars disappeared after the 24 mark. When I came back to the finish line it gave me 1st place and gold. My time showed something like 27min and some change while all the other cars as being lapped by 1 even though I didn't lap anybody.

The same thing has been happening to me last night as well. It's almost as if the other cars disappear after crossing the finish line, after the time is up, if you're not around to witness it. I had a healthy 50s lead when I crossed shortly before the timer expired. I got one more checkpoint ping from the second place car as they hit the finish line, then never any more during my remaining 3mins on the track. As every car hit the finish line my place in the standings dropped till I was last. But then after I finished the standings showed me as #1, with all other cars 1 lap down. I got the stars and the reward for the #1 spot as well.

Yep, that's exactly what happened to me.

I did 3 timed races since the update and had no issues.

I'm not really sure what your point is though. You may have run 3 timed races since the update with no issues, but other people, myself included, have had issues. I did a Spa race where I was supposedly 2 laps ahead at the end of the race. I only lapped everyone once out on track, but maybe unnecessary pit stopping by the AI is where the other lapping happened. So two laps ahead of every other car, but then classified as finishing 8th. That's not some kind of user error, "stupid racer-noob doesn't understand how stuff works" type of thing. Short of me being issued some kind of 5 or 6 minute post-race penalty to put me back in 8th, that pretty much just doesn't make sense.

Not knowing what just happened or thinking to check here for similar experiences, I ran the race again. This time, again well in front, I happened to be let's say 15 seconds from the end of a lap but 20 seconds away from the end of the timed race. So out of laziness, I backed off a bit so I wouldn't have to run another lap, and crossed the line maybe a second after the timer hit zero. This time I won the race, and amazingly was actually awarded with 1st place.
