Well there is this movie i think or maybe its a show but its coming out soon its called like Anaconda. Now we all seen the other movies but this one strikes me as beeing a bit odd. Now first it says that the snake is over 50 feet long weighing in at 1500 or something like that. Then its says that this snake travels at 150 ft per second. Now according to my knowledge of math, 150 ftps times 60 will give me the feet per minute. So 150*60 is 9000ft p minute. Now lets multiply that bye 60 again to recieve the ft per hr. 9000*60 is 540,000 ft p hr. Now lets find how many miles per hr he is going. Im america we use mile not kilometers. So 5280ft is one mile. We do 540,000 / 5280. What do we get about 102miles per hr.  No way in hell a 50 foot long snake that weighs 1500 could move at a speed of 102 miles an hr in or out of water. what do u ppl think.

You can't expect a lot of replies in 30 minutes, considering most people won't know what you're talking about, seeing how you didn't give any details on the program. You're at a time of the day when there's generally not a lot of action, so all that's normal.

Just be patient, and watch your language.

It is like saying a cheetah can do 60km/h. Okay it can, but not for an HOUR. So that snake might do 102mph. But only for say a split second or just a minute tops.

when they were first showing that....i thought they were describing my tube steak and its amazing motion of love.

w00t w00t. *dies*

This movie looks absolutely horrible. So does "Open Water." I'll go read the reviews now...

Edit: Damn! "Open Water" got 3 1/2 stars!

60km/h? Pfft. A cheetah has been clocked at 72mph.

In perspective, this snake can move three times it's body length in one second. An 8 foot long (including the massive couterbalancing tail) cheetah would have to move at 24 feet/s to match this, proportionally. That's 16.4mph. Which, as stated above, the cheetah far outstrips.

A black mamba can cover ground at up to 20mph - again it's roughly 8 feet long, so to match the "film snake" it too would have to move at 16.4mph.

It sounds stupid, but it's really not all that far fetched.

i hope that black mamba figure is for the initial burst of speed. there is no snake that can even get in the low 20s forconsistent miles per hour.
unfortunaley for snakes, they have to make a lot of lateral movement to gain any forward motion.

Indeed?

However, you are right that the "4" shouldn't be there. Damn eagle eyes...

im from africa. i should know.

if you read the text youll notice that all the animals were measured over varying distances. the snake being one of em.

I did notice. I also noticed that the distances weren't given.
