So i'm sitting in the grandstand up at paddock hill bend drinking my hot chocolate and watching the Playstation GT Junior Ginettas racing. And I hear a young woman behind me talking to her boyfriend. As the Ginettas rushed through paddock hill bend, the woman said to her boyfriend "so do the cars have to stay on the left hand side of the road?" (for all you dummies that dont already know, paddock hill bend is a right hander). And the man sounded so ashamed of her when he taught some common sense into her. I found this pretty funny and slightly insulting to motorsport so i thought id share it.

My Mum probably would have said the same thing.

But cars to some women is like make-up to us men, we just don't know about it!

That would be normal for most of the girls I know, Im used to silly questions like that.

Reminds me of the episode of Top Gear where they had Jeremy's, James' and Richard's mums on the programme testing cars and one of the women indicated to turn a corner on the race track.

Don't underestimate women and racing. I took an exgirlfriend to a race meet once and she asked all the stupid questions...

- why has he stopped? (asking about a car that only had 3 wheels left on it)
- why don't the cars at the front let the other ones through? They're just being rude.
- why is he going so slow? (asked about the clerk of the course car doing a sighting lap)
plus many more.

The next weekend I took my car out to a racetrack to do some fast laps with some friends and she tagged along. Half way through the day we started getting overtaken by this crazy driver. When we returned to the pits we found my exg/f had been talking to a senior driving instructor while we were all going around. The instructor had liked her so much he had given her the keys to his race tuned streeter and told her to do a few laps.

Needless to say she kicked our arses. She now competes fairly successfully in beginner level open wheeler racing.

Woah, I guess she was the lucky one. 👍

Some girls I've known no matter how much you try and explain cars to them, they're more confused than they first were.

I hate girtls like that my girls like that. It just makes me want to shout at their stupidy and to tell em to shut up.

Thats why I like to stay single.

When I was walking into the Festival of Speed, I overheard some guy saying to his girlfriend:

"What did you think the Festival of Speed is, a giant rave of something?"

Which amused me.

This is a bit trollish but meh.

You go on to gran turismo forums, brag how strong and fast you are, call everyone else thin pale unathletic and now say you like to stay single.

You make no sense whatsoever.

Back on topic. Back and the day my parents would go to races together and as far as I've heard they had a good time.

He's an E-player.

anyway...Somebody, that's really sad. I suspected the only reason she blew past you guys was because she was in a fast car...but now she's open wheel racing? wtf?

****-tease to amateur racer? lame.

heh pretty funny that had me chuckling for a while.

vtec_guy: I know I've asked you this before but what part of brighton are you from?
