Ok! I don´t have the skills to edit "the perfect pic", I need a new challange. I will buy every car in the game that I think can make "The Ring" in under 8 minutes absolute "STOCK"!!! Right from the shop to the track. The only adjustment will be "driving aids" that will be set to 3, 3 and 2.

I will start with 2-4 laps to feel if it´s even possible and then push it as hard as I can.

First car out is of course the mighty "M3 CSL"

First atempt gave a lap of 7.53,483. This was a lap with more than one misstake, I think that a time around 7,45-50 is possible.

Feel free to at your car and time, but remember that only straight from the shop to the track and an "never more than two wheels of the track lap" counts.

Just to be clear, you're referring to production models, correct? NOT race cars or tuners?

Sounds like fun, I'll have to see what I can cook up...

First, get rid of the driving aids altogether and then do the test again... you don't know what you're missing if you use them.

Yes of course (thank you for making that clear)👍 It is production road cars straight of the production line that counts

Yeah! I might just pick you up on that 👍

Second car out is the Nissan Skyline GT-R V-spec II Nur -02

345 bhp/6800 rpm Weight 1560 kg.

Damn this was hard! Eight minutes of earley turn in´s and on the eight- or nineth appempt I managed to put in a 7,54,988 but I had to work hard to get there in a car that I don´t realy like :indiff: there is someting about it that I can´t put my finger on (maybe the understeering). I also let my good friend B-spec Bob have a go at it and he put down a decent 8,11,242 :sly: Well well the first real test is done and now I will get my self some american muscle and see what they can do

Dodge Viper SRT 10 –03

Bhp 507 at 5600 rpm, weight 1533 and p/w ratio 3,025

Whit that much more power than the CSL and Skyline you do believe that it’s able to blow those cars of the track. Well it almost does just that, even whit poor brakes and imprecise steering you’re capable of going around the track in 7,50:s quite early but when you want to push it a bit harder the weaknesses gets more obvious. I made a 7,40,653 before handing over the keys to Bob. He went out and put down a blistering 7,37 something :grumpy: , and now I can’t get any rest until I beat his time. But with all power and less technique I might just have to work for it. I’ll be back when I´m faster than my friend Bob

Dude, you really should be aiming at a Sub-7 minute 'ring time. And extend it to tuner cars, that's the real challenge. I've done many hotlaps in stock cars around the 'ring, and with the driving aids turned off, and in under 8 minutes. Here are my times:

More 'ring times here

I've moved this to the Spot Races and Lap Times Comparisons forum since it is more suited here than in the Race Reports forum.

i'll be joining this one for sure. and M3_CSL, just so you know i did enjoy your gallery dude. don't say you cant' edit the perfect pic, coz none of us can. we're all humans :) will post times soon.

Dude, take it easy on the man... He's got his goal and motivation, you had yours, let's let him run his challenge without telling him how it should be.

Regarding the challenge and what participation I may take... Not sure at this time.
I think I may take what seems like the slowest car possible for achieving the goal. Could be a Civic or something but I'm just not sure if that is too fast.

Let me go and see what I can come up with and I'll get back in here with a time (assuming I manage to complete a lap). :D

Being that he's saying to go straight from the dealer to the Ring, I'm guessing he wants us on S2 tires (since that's what comes on all dealer bought normal cars).

So... I tried my EP '04 Civic Type R... Only managed to get under 8'20... Specifically I ran to something like 8'17.9. :indiff:
I moved on from there, went back to the Honda dealer and tried the S2000 '04. 👍
Ran 8'01.1 on my first try and on the second try I ran a 7'58.9.

I suggest everyone gives that S2000 a go around the Ring. The engine sounds great, the handling is top notch, and the overall feel of the car gives you the impression you could brake at the last second and carry cornering speeds much faster than most cars in the game (I know that's not literally true but you certainly feel invincible while driving that S2K). 👍

I was just commenting on sub-8 mins not being that much of a challenge, since there are many cars that can achieve that time without much of an effort. Your Civic attempt is quite daring, though 👍 The time with the S2000 was also amazing, I think the best I've got is 8'07.XXX

I'd say try it with the Jensen Interceptor or the Mitsu Evo VI RS... just trying to look for cars with a limited speed, so you have to rely more on handling than on top speed.

Thanks and I really appreciate the Evo VI RS suggestion. That could be a great challenge. I'm sure you suggested it while well aware of the fact that it will be a 5 speed (I think).
I'm pretty much doing the same thing you are talking about though... Looking for cars with limited top speeds and the worst PWR possible while still fitting in under the 8 minute mark.

That said, once I find a few more cars worth running and actually get the chance to run them, I'll come and post a few replays to get the ball rolling for anyone who wants a ghost to run against.

Back later, till then,

Had a go in the S2000 best of 8:06:xxx after 6 laps. Couldn't quite get a full clean lap in. Had one where it was well on but changed down instead of up after bergwerk and lost loads of time.

Edit: Got under 8 in the Elise 111R with a 7:56:810.

I had a go with the Pagani Zonda C12S, and all I can say is:

GAH!

I hate driving supercars on the 'ring... they're all bouncy and stiff! Must focus on normal cars from now on. Best time was like 7:17.xxx

Completely off-topic though, I had a go with the Re-Amemiya Asparadrink RX-7... awesome car for the 'ring. 👍

Bit of an update here... I've been doing laps on other cars around the 'ring, continuing my list, as previously mentioned. Here are other cars with which a sub-8-min time at the 'ring is perfectly plausible:

RUF 3400S '00 - 7'42.588
Nissan Skyline GT-R M.N.P. II '99 - 7'51.692
Shelby Series 1 '03 - 7'35.764
Ford Mustang SVT Cobra R - 7'54.113
Tommykaira ZZII '00 - 7'09.374
TVR Tamora '02 - 7'48.220
Lotus Esprit V8 SE '98 - 7'47.876
Mazda RX-7 Type RS '00 - 7'50.463
Jaguar XJ220 '92 - 7'20.136
Honda NSX Type S Zero '97 - 7'52.561

Only brand new cars or we can use any car from the Used Car Lots since it's stock and just gave it an oil change?

Any car, as long as it's stock... so no race cars and only tuner cars that come with sports tyres. Used cars are alright.
