Subaru Boxer Turbodiesel

It is coming to Europe in 2008, although details are scant.

I'm excited to see what kind of torque this puts out, because the the EJxx is already a pretty torquey motor on gas.

The turbo is moved under the engine to preserve the low center of gravity.

No word on displacement, but reports speculate it will be a 2.0 L.

Subaru will have an edge over other diesels with this engine. Boxers are naturally balanced and because of this; free of unwanted vibrations. This would make Subaru's diesel the smoothest diesel on the entire market. This is something Subaru will win on.

Economy is main selling point, though. That bit will be interesting to see how it'll turn out.

then bad things start to happen.

Funny, usually diesels are quite gutless and unwilling to rev beyond 4k..
