Hey, I'm not completely sure if I'm right but I think I am, in the Subaru dealership the 05 STI and above have 2.5L engines but it says they have 2L engines? Anyone else noticed this mistake or am I mistaken? My cousin has a 06 STI exactly the same shape as the 05 STI in GT5 and his is a 2.5L?

The Aussie ones are 2.5L (WRX and STi).

I have a 2006 WRX Hatch, it's 2.5L.

Probably because we have long stretches of open road, and tend to drive longer distances than many other countries, so less engine wear.

Also, I like the torque curve on the 2.5L.

Actuallly, IRL the current WRX really uses different engines.
2.0 is the Japan spec.
2.5 is the Euro (probably US also).

The 2.0 is closer to a race engine and has actually bigger tuning potential. 2.5 is somewhat torquier of course.

You're comparing a JDM '05 WRX STi spec C Type RA to a standard Export '06 WRX STi. Massive differences.

The JDM 2L has slightly more power and revs harder then the export 2.5L thanks to Japans awesome fuel. And, the spec C Type RA is a tuned version of the JDM 2L so it has even more power again.

So what your trying to say is that my cousins 06 STI would get raped by a import 05 STI? Wow and I thought his Wrx was quick thanks for the info guys as you can see I'm not really that much of a Subaru lover but one hell of a GTR lover :D

not raped, but it does have a bit more going for it (along with weight reductions in the spec C).

The cars would be very similar until you get into real racing.

I've raced my WRX against current STis, 2L STi's, 2L WRXs and Porsches, and for the most part, the driver is the biggest factor, unless you have spent thousands upon thousands on new exhausts, ECU, intake, tyres etc.

Even then, a great driver in the lesser car will beat a good driver in a more expensive car.

Great drivers are a wonder to behold in real life. A different breed. I wish I was one of them :)

At once I also thought PD had messed up with the Impreza's but that was because of the tachometer which allows 8000 rpms in the Japenese versions. I soon learned that I was wrong thanks to this community.
