A friend of mine just gave me a book all about Subbuteo, the greatest table football game ever...
I wondered if anyone had any memories of their own Subbuteo careers... I certainly have plenty... unfortunately, due to the arrival of a greyhound in our family home, my Subbuteo pitch and many teams perished just about a year ago
Back in about 1980-81, before I got Subbuteo for my birthday, my Mum made me a pitch using a green curtain and drew the lines on with Tipp-Ex... was great, but was quite embarrasing when your mates all had the real thing. After that I needed to get a proper pitch. Who ever said necessity was the mother of invention? My mother was the invention of necessity!
I had loads of teams, but not being content with playing the Scottish Premier league, I also played two full World Cups, the Belgian league (why?
) the English 1st Division (as it was then), and also my own imaginary league... (you don't want to know about that)...
I wish I had more pictures of it, at one point I had quite a cool set-up, with attendances of between 100 and 150 (mostly naked) supporters, apart from those painted by my mate Ian... (the man was a genius!)
Anyway, if you had this game/have this game or (like me) all you have left is fond memories of the game, post your thoughts, pics etc here....
