Subscribing to threads - WTF?

I'm noticing my "subscribed threads" list is getting larger and larger any second while I don't subscribe to any of 'em, WTF is this?

So you're saying that without clicking the button, you're getting more and more subscribed threads?

Chances are you have that option set in your profile options. Look for it in the "Edit Option" section of your control Panel.

Basically, anytime you reply to a thread, it will automatcially subscribe to it.

I double that. I don't have the automatic subsciption turned on, I don't klick the subscribe button, but still, I'm being subscribed to some thread I post in now and then.

EDIT: I always use advanced reply.

I just did a quick check and he doesn't have that clicked. Interesting situation.

Are the threads that have been added, ones that you've viewed, or ones that you've replied to? If replied to, are you using the quick editor, the WYSIWYG or the advanced reply?

I got subscribed to that idiot wasace's thread a-while ago when I replied to it.

check this when you do advanced reply. If it says anything but "Do not subscribe" then you're being subscribed with every reply.

But the default setting is "Do not subscribe", right?

I never changed that setting, and in the past, I've never been subscribed to a thread I didn't do it intentionally. Just about a month ago, I was subscribed to any thread I wrote a reply in. I never changed that setting though.

Well, you shouldn't be subscribed to any thread automatically if you haven't replied to it. If you are, please pay special attention to the method in which you reply to the thread (either by clicking the "Post Reply" button, quoting another post, or using the Quick Reply feature).

Here's my current list of threads I am subscribed to:



The ones I marked red are those which I didn't subscribe to by myself, I was subscribed to them the moment I posted an answer. I always use the "post reply"-button, but I never chose to be subscribed to any of these threads in the options. It seems to me like the default setting was set to "subscribe, but don't notify" for about a week or so.

I just click on the "Post Reply" button to reply, it doesn't subscribe to any threads but if I post a couple of times then BAM!

And there's no chance you could have accidentally changed the drop-down box in the Additional Options of the post reply page? Nothing about our default configuration has changed, but I have this funny feeling it could be a bug. We should be upgrading in a few weeks to the newer version of vB and this could correct it.

Nope. If that would happen to me, it'd probably happen once or twice, but not start one day and just happen for a week.
