Greetings Ye Merry Band Of Cyber Seedsters!
I, with the able assistance and kindness, of the membership herein, humbly present my new avatar! A no doubt, small accomplishment for some, a major leap for this auld sot! I now feel a certain kinship that comes from being part of this great community, I thank those who took the time to lend their assistance and look forward to many hours navigating this virtual world of speed and all things car!
Humbly
Fangio

Nice avatar Fangio, pretell what exactly the name of the car is?

While your at it, you should change your usertitle to something other than New Member.

To do that, you need to click....

Edit Profile
You should see the little box there right above the "Date of Birth" box.

It doesn't appear here... :(

Yeah, for non premium users you need 500 posts.

Then you get it, sorta like how the avatars work.

You need to be here for a certain amount of time, and have a certain amount of posts.

Lookin' good man, i mean
Ye olde avatare is of great importance. It beith the symbol of thine own likes and styles. Thou hast performed an duty for thine calling, as a member of the GTP legion.

:P
have fun, and great enthusiasm!

I believe the car is a Mercedes-Benz, quite possibly the W196 driven by Juan Manuel Fangio. In fact, I think I recognise the photo - was it taken at the 1986 Altimer-GP at the Nürburgring, with the man himself driving? I could be mistaken, but I've seen a print of that photo somewhere :)

Anyway, it suits you 👍

You can indeed change your User Title as LOON outlines, or, as with your Premium badge, you can elect to remove it altogether via the checkbox next to the option to change it.

what I dont see is why so many people are non-members.

$20.00 for a year and $60.00 for a lifetime, talk about a deal.

Good Loon,
Grateful for your curiosity. The picture is of the great Juan manuel fangio, in 1986 at the Oldtimers GP, at of all venues, the Nurburing in a Mercedes W196, one of many racers that The Maestro piloted to victory during his illustrious career. He also drove Alfa's, Maserati's and Ferrari's. Arguably the finest Formula One driver that ever parked his buttocks in a cockpit.
As to my status as "new member", I was curious as to when I would shake that tag. It would appear as though I will have to become a prodigious poster. Since I am a bit long winded, that should not prove to be a hardship!
Enjoy your travels across the orb today Kind Sir, as always I am,
Your Humble Scribe
Fangio

Dark Elite,
You indeed are an observant chap! I failed to read your post before going on in mine. I do not know who the photographer is, but I have an autographed print, hanging in my office, that I purchased at a swap meet near Lime Rock, a number of years ago, and found this particular pic, on an F1 history page.
A far cry from the low slung, techno rockets of today that are just about unrecognizable as cars. Today it seems it is less about the piloto, than the car.
I tip my hat to you oh Observant One!

Tulock!
I sense in thee, a kindred soul! Had we lived in yon days of auld, your company would have been greatly appreciated! Hail fellow well met! It seems you hail from Castle California! Ah well! I shall pay it no mind. We all have crosses to bear as we travel through life! I jest kind Sir!
Carry on! Spread Anarchy and good cheer! And I shall carry on in the role of court jester, (or village idiot, depending on your perspective) spreading mirth and merriment!
As Always, I remain,
Your humble Jokester

Also Fangio, instead of making three different posts, because you forgot to add something to the original post, use the edit button. You'll find it in the lower right hand corner of your posts.:)👍

Yes, I beith an Idiot, I shall seek out my calling as though mine own life shall dependeth upon it, sobeit i shall be called from this day forward, Village Idiot :D

Dear Sir,

Please allow me to formally introduce myself. I am Captian Bradly R. Ysseldyke of the infamous VanYsseldyke lineage in the land of the Nehterlands, son of Thor, and the heir to the throne of Castle Rapids in the land of Michigan. Be kind good sir, for your words are by which you are to be judged in this place, and take care of thyself, for we, the people of GTPlanet, are rarely kind in times of injustice and foul-play. I by no means wish to accuse anyone of anything, as it would appear as though thou had taken neither a miss-step nor a radical jump. But heed my words fellow, man, the slightest of steppes can indeed be your last.

...For neither mortal nor immortal can resist the judgment of the mighty who control this land. Their power is limitless, and by their direction, we do as they command. Free will is that of your own, but those rights, given only by God himself, can be stripped at any time...

I wish you well on your travels fellow man of Gentry, and I bid you good day!

Very nice. Very nice indeed.

Yeah, I had a good time with that. It is kinda fun to get all old-school English on someone. We should do it more often in random threads...

...Oh, wait...

Somewhere, in Stratford-upon-Avon, theres a turbulent mound of dirt, under which a certain someone is spinning in his grave.

There wasn't really any need for this thread.

Good Squire Yssman,
I sense in Thee, a gentlemanliness, a quality of birth and bearing, rarely encountered in my meanderings across this great orb. You hath struck a resonant chord in my soul, and I shall take your cautionary words to mine own heart.
For I am a fellow of some years, and my misteps at this stage of my travels, may indeed be my last! I shall gird my loins, and don my armor. My swordplay hath lost a bit of it's sharpness, and my mind is a step behind as well. So I shall indeed tread lightly, for I fear the wrath of the Lord Overseer, and wish not to offend. Carry forth Good Squire, and be of good cheer!
I am, as always,
Your Humble Servant
Fangio
