This is related to the previous (locked) thread about the legality of anti-groups. I was thinking: during that thread, a very unsavory event came to light in which a (former) member of the MLPRG responded to an attempted brony infiltration of the group (apparently it was supposed to be larger, but only a few people bothered) by entering the brony thread to bluster and threaten like a too-cool-for-school bully (not to mention, if he'd carried out his threat to spam them, he would have found himself alone). Excessive, unnecessary, and totally out of line. This lead to an announcement by Jordan that any more nonsense of that type would be the end of our project. Should be fine, since there won't be any more excessive aggression, right? I say with complete confidence, any other warhawks who come to the surface will get the same treatment as that guy did (thrown out), only swifter.

But then I realized... what if it happens when VANDENAL is offline? Then we're doomed! I could take care of it... if only I had kick privellages. But alas, only the group leader has them.

So that leads to my suggestion. Allow the leaders of social groups to appoint group moderators with full privelages: edit/delete posts, remove members, etc. This would allow us to empower a selection of trustworthy members from different time zones so that rogue members can be dealt with before they have a chance to associate their raging and threatening and general immoderacy with our group.

Speaking of which, I apologize on behalf of the My Little Pony Resistance Group for the actions of that member, who as I said above is no longer one of us. As I said above, further warmongering will result in the perpetrator being thrown out.

I have no idea what MLPRG is, can't understand "brony infiltration" or what project would be ended by Jordan due to more nonsense, but I loved all of it, I understand warhwaks will be dealt with swiftly and warmongering will not be allowed anymore. Epic post.

On to the title, one that my poor brain still is able to assimilate ... my two cents:

This (including social groups) is gtplanet, founded and owned by Jordan. Therefore, moderators are appointed by Jordan and answer to Jordan alone. Moderators check the social groups as they do check the forums.

So ... If anyone wants to create a forum to expand a particular social group and appoint moderators and be the ruler within that group ... by all means do. But the way I see it that should be done outside of gtplanet.

Within gtplanet, the AUP applies and even social groups posts have a "report" link. Use it.

That's an interesting idea, but it's not possible with the forum software's implementation of social groups. If there's any problems, though, just report them to the site's moderation staff and we'll take care of it as necessary.

After reading this thread, and the other pony thread thing here, my faith in human kind just died a little.

I never for one moment, would expect to find things like this on a car videogame website.

I for one, never expected to see people so anti-GT on a GT Fansite (not talking about you btw, just mean a good amount of members here)

...Can't we all get along?

That's exactly why I suggested this - so people who can't get along can be dissociated from the group before they get to the point where the site staff has to deal with them.

Apparently, technical limitations forbid it.

But what if it were a bunch of AUP-breaking guys who made the social group abusing their moderation powers?

How about you just get along with people and stop caring about threads that you clearly don't agree with the topic in?

It would be like repeatedly walking into a Catholic Church only to condemn in believing in the Holy Trinity and to more or less complain about the reading of the Bible there.

That is what they do there, so just don't bother dealing with it and problem solved.

Instead, you've taken this profoundly childish stance of being "anti-brony," which is more or less along the lines of any other fanboy group that acts in a mindless and immature nature.

They aren't taking over GTP either, oh my. Hell, I regularly forget about that whole thing till threads like this pop up and you more or less make an effort to put your personal views out there as if they reflect the majority of the user base.

Just grow up and get over it.

You are a god amongst men.

Does anyone else feel like this whole situation and the causes of it are just beyond hilarious?

I'd be concerned that the people were ageing backward if I could stop laughing at the immaturity of it all.

Each to their own and all that, but if I could some up my opinion on this debacle in one word, it would be - pathetic.

I can't believe something like this is an issue. Not sure if I should laugh or cry.
