I'd like to suggest something for the "Ask GTPlanet" thread.

Everytime I'm in there, I don't know if all of those threads contains the answers the original poster was asking for. Surely, we are with nearly 100,000 members and lots of intelligent people pass through those threads everyday but I'd still like to know which threads had the answers the original poster was looking for.

My suggestion would be that when the original poster has recieved his answers and people do not really need to go back and check out wether there was an answer given, the creater of the thread could place (SOLVED) behind the thread's title. Not only would this give that people would need to take time to read through threads to see wether he/ she has had an answer, it would also prevent other people from coming in and postwhoring or posting info which is totally misleading and/ or which has nothing to do with the actual thread. Another suggestion would be that when the thread creater has written the (SOLVED), a moderator would be able to lock that certain thread so that we know those people got their answers.

Just an idea 👍

Cheers,

It seems like a good idea, maybe have something like they do at ubuntu forums, where there is a little checkbox saying: "Click here if your thread is Resolved"

I'm not sure about this. Rather than introducing a specific new feature (or requesting users edit their thread titles, which is unrealistic), the most obvious solution would be to allow all users to close their own threads inside of that particular forum. However, the very nature of a thread is to generate continuing discussion on a topic, and that is especially true in the Ask GTPlanet forum. Say, for example, the first reply to a question is incorrect or questionable. Ignorantly satisfied with the response, the user closes the thread, leaving them with an incorrect answer and leaving the rest of the community unable to correct or debate the mistake.

Perhaps you could provide a few examples, but as of right now I do not see how limiting discussion will increase the quality of questions or responses in the forum. If you do happen to run across post whoring or intentionally misleading responses, it would do more good to use the Report feature and let the moderation team investigate the user in further detail.

I started giving the solved when I get an answer, it still allows for conversation on a given topic but people know they don't have to go in and explain something. I also put the answer in the last post so people can see what was given in case they come across the same problem.
