This is my first thread so bare with me if I do something wrong or if this has been said. I just took a look at the [Guides] and it seems a bit out-dated in the sense that the Gran Turismo (PSP) has a GT4 cover with PSP on top and then the GT5 logo is GT with a normal 5 below. Maybe change those Jordan, please. :) Aside from that it all seems cool and well organized. Thank you and hope this gets to him. It's a small detail but it's always good to help and keep it updated ;)

Hi there, welcome to GTPlanet. I'm well aware the Guides are a mess - addressing that has been on my to-do list for quite some time but other, more important, tasks keep bumping it down.

I'd love for the Guides to be the GT5 equivalent of, say, the Call of Duty Wiki. I'd be more than happy to pitch in in editing pages, and so would all the GTP members.

I'm agreeing with Peter. It'll work well if you change it into a wiki and be moderated by a few people 👍

I agree too. The newer games GT5 for example isn't the proper logo.

If I may make a suggestion for when you do get to revamping the guides, how about losing the ads, for contributors at least. When I first signed up here I started in on working on the GT4 guides, when I went premium and still had to cope with the ads in the guides I abandoned it.

Unfortunately, that's not the case - it is a "wiki" and was open for edits by the community for several years. Despite a high-profile link and promotion on the site, there was never much serious enthusiasm from the larger member base to develop the guides into a truly valuable resource. Instead, people still preferred to organize their "guides", lists, and FAQs in the forums (which is understandable, really, as posting something popular in the forums brings with it a lot more positive reinforcement than editing a wiki page).

Maintaining the MediaWiki software is also a nightmare for me, hence the reason I'll be dumping it and moving the most valuable pages from the Guides into the site's WordPress installation soon. This would still make it easy for anyone to contribute or edit pages in that section of the site if they want (send me a PM if you're interested).

I sense GTPX2 coming

Considering the wealth of knowledge available for GT5 already in the forums, it'd certainly be interesting to have it all compiled in the Guides section, essentially opening up the chance of freeing up some real-estate on the forums. The GT5 main board, for example, has a lot of stickies; an in-depth Guides section could help minimize that, and work as a sort-of mega-FAQ to point people with small questions towards.

You know me Jordan - if I can help out with anything, let me know! 👍
