Initial searches didn't turn anything up. Of course, after typing all this out and setting the thread title, several show up. I'm not going to look at them all at this point. If the mods think this has already been covered here, I reckon it can be deleted.

  • Definitions;
    • GT7 = Gran Turismo 7
    • PSVR2 = PlayStation Virtual Reality 2 headset/scope
    • MFD = Multi-Function Display, floating pageable informational display, inside most cars.
      • Current Display pages include;
      • Traction Control settings (when available)
      • Brake Balance settings (when available)
      • Fuel Map settings (when available)
      • Torque Split settings (when available)
      • Weather Radar
      • Track Map w/Radar
      • Radar Near Car
      • Session Best (sector, last, best and optimal lap) 6 rows 3 columns of data points
    • HUD = Heads Up Display, static informational display, outside all cars.
      • In VR2 Displays Current Pos/Total Pos, Current Lap/Total Laps, Lap Time

  1. Problem - When playing GT7 in VR2 with the HUD enabled the information is displayed outside the car and, depending on the specific car's windshield height, obstructs the view ahead to one degree or another.
  2. Problem - When playing GT7 in VR2 there is no leaderboard or "Gap" representation whatsoever.
  3. Problem - Most, if not all, GT7 players must act as race engineer, race strategist and other roles that may be necessary. Players utilizing VR do not have the necessary information to base on the fly decisions and is exacerbated should they choose to drive with the HUD and MFD turned off.
  4. Problem - When driving open cockpit vehicles the MFD "floats" outside the cockpit and becomes distorted/ghosted/doubled and is largely un-useable.
Suggestion/Solution to eliminate the first 3 problems listed above;

  • Ideal;
    • Create more pages in the MFD to show;
      • HUD information
      • Leaderboard + gap info (6 rows & 3 columns apparently available)
        • This could keep position 1 always at the top, the remaining 5 could allow the list to change as the player changes positions, 2 ahead, 2 behind + gaps and gap to leader. If player is leader, gaps to 2nd-6th place cars.
    • Controller Option to map a button to cycle through both HUD and MFD on, HUD on, MFD on and all off

  • Less than Ideal;
    • Controller Option to map a button to cycle through both HUD and MFD on, HUD on, MFD on and all off.

I have no solution ideas for the 4th problem. I sure would like it to stop giving me drunken double vision vibes and thinking I have 6 cars around me instead of only 3.

2 and 3 are serious issues for me, however I can't say I have noticed 1 or 4.

My main issue is switching between MFD functions by feel. I'd like a toggle switch to go between the Radar and Fuel Mapping.

(I use glasses and take them off when in the PSVR2. I use a G29 wheel)

Interesting initiative.

I solved some of my problems with a third-party race engineer (Ezio Dash and/or Victory). Of course, it’s not perfect compared to a race display, but it’s already much better.
I appreciate being able to mix the sound of my smartphone and that of the PS5 with my Pulse headset.

Among the suggestions:

- Completely agree with your proposal to add these elements to the existing pages. By adding perhaps the best lap time on the track at a T moment.

- A quick on/off in racing, with for example, a click on a rotary knob of my G Pro would be great.

- I would like to be able to organize the position of the pages that I call with the rotary knob of my steering wheel.

- During a viewing, via the PSVR2, cockpit view replays represent a quite different view of the real driving experience. It’s a bit destabilizing when I am looking for the right braking points and the right line.

Finally, it might be a mistake in the handling or mapping of my steering wheel, I am forced to take back my Dualsense to vary the views during replays. It’s doable but I would prefer to manage this with my steering wheel.
