I have noticed a sort of problem with the GTP system, and that is that when most people reach 1000 posts their interest and involvement tapers off, because there isn't as much allure to being involved, since you don't gain anything by posting.

That's why I think new features for high-posters is a must if you want to keep interest as more and more people reach 1000 posts.

If there was more stuff to gain, people (myself included) would visit more often and be more involved.

An Idea:

Elite Threads - there could be threads ONLY for people with over certain amounts of posts, for example, a "1000 Post Club", "2000 Post club", etc.

I think the elite club idea is a really good one if you want to keep people interested. I know you don't want to encourage just mindless smilie posting to gain posts, BUT if people have more incentive to post, they will be more involved and have more interesting, provocative conversations!

I hope you consider this...
:)

I have a suggestion:

How about a language changer, to where u can type stuff in English but when you click on "submit reply" it changes to say german, danish, swedish, etc!

Yes, I hadn't really thought about access to special forums, only access to more features. Good idea!

https://www.gtplanet.net/translate.htm - It's all I can do for now; vBulletin doesn't support any languages other than English (this will be changing with 3.0).

Stealth man this is also a great idea. Your status fits you just great. I would spark much more interest in posting and oming back to GTPlanet. I know it would spark my attention a bunch more. After you hit 1000 posts the thrill of posting really just fizzles away. :( Then when you get to about 1800 you start getting excited about 2000 then you hit it then its like.........ok. I think all those suggestions about new theads or forums is awesome. Maybe you can have more user status names. I can still think up a lot more than the last one you get. great suggestions man.

I wanted to point all of these out again...

As do I ... there are a bunch of really cool ones at the top that I think would be really fun.

-People should, when looking at members profiles, be able to see an archived list with links to all of the threads they started, and there should be an avg. rating for threads they made that were rated.
This is similar to something I've brought up before. It would be very cool. I also like the average rating for threads by the user. I think it would get more people voting on threads.

-More secret eastereggs to peak and rebuild interest from people who have over 1000 posts or just aren't intersted. One of the things, for example, I loved about this site was that you gained status names for posting. There should be other hidden things or abilities that people can gain. It adds to the fun.
I love eastereggs (:

-A customizable smily list for each individual. Each user could take 11 smilies out of the master list and make them quick links on the side, like the current default 11 are. This way if there are some on the main list I use a lot and some on the default quickies I don't, I could switch them. Did that make sense
I don't know how easy/possible this is, but it would be really cool

-When people have CONFIRMED times on certain courses (confirmed with pictures), have a thing on their profile that lists their best confirmed times. People could send them directly to you or you could devise some other systems. This way people could be "seeded" in intra-GTP competitions.
It would be nice to have a database at GTPlanet of GranTurismo times. Something like the database at GT3Times.com

-If you can see what someone is doing in the "Who's Online" thingy, that should be a thing on their profile, too, so when you're viewing their profile you can see where they are.
Having the same information in multiple places can be quite nice.

-We need a more comprehensive, all inclusive "strategy" section to help people play the game. We can include prize-car lists, "walkthroughs" for every track as to speed, corners, and how to race them, we can have "tips from the pros", we can even have an individual forum for each of the tracks just for tips.
Anyone else think a strategy section is a good idea?

I think this one is in the works (: With member submissions via the forums, this should take off pretty quickly.

Has this been implemented? When do I get my VIP card? Maybe members could be added as a popular vote system by the moderators or something. I mean, using posts as status symbols has bugged me from day 1. It's sort of one of my GTP crusades to under-play that as much as possible (:

 lol

BTW, I was confused at first when I saw this thread... I was in shock when ViperConcept said he was close to 2k posts, when in fact he's over 3k... I also wondered why the blushing smilie had "just" been added... then my brain actually turned on and I looked at the post dates.
