Suggestions

I just got a brand-new computer (Dell, Pentium 4, etc.) and want your guys' suggestions as to which games to buy.

I enjoy playing games like UT2K4 at my friends' house, but I could also go for an RTS or something to that affect. One game I'm interested in is Star Wars Battlefront, so you thoughts on that would be appreciated.

Anyways, I feel kind of stupid making a thread like this, but I trust your opinions more than IGN or 1up's.

I'd recommened Warhammer Dawn of War for a real time strategy game, whether you like warhammer or not its great! Single player could have done with a campaign for each race though.

Half Life 1 and 2.
UT 2004
Grand Prix Legends
Max Payne 2
Call of Duty
Doom 3
Far Cry
Operation Flashpoint
Knights of the Old Republic
Vampire the Masquerade : bloodlines
Total Annihilation (best rts ever, forget the single player, it's the multiplayer where it's at :))
IL2 Sturmovik forgotten battles
Battlefield Vietnam
Homeworld 2
Morrowind Game of the Year edition
Eve Online
Grim Fandango

The following games are my picks as must-haves for PC,for any PC game that is around, look for a demo that you can try out first:

Half-Life 2-Simply put, this is the best game of 2004.There is so much to comment about this game that I could go on for hours. If you have a decent PC, then you NEED this game.

Doom 3-This is a fun, immersive title that pays for itself with it's first playthrough.I actually was on edge with the way the game was designed. It's a visceral experience all the way through and one of the best FPS games I have ever played.

Rome:Total War-Not even beign a fan of the Total War series, just as a fan of strategy games overall, Rome: Total War is easily one of the best strategy games ever created. Everything about this game is outstanding. The gameplay is deep but not overly complicated, making it accessible and fun for vets and new players alike. Every fan of the strategy genre should pick this game up, you will not be disappointed. The radical shifts in the game (first the reforms of Gaius Marius, then the eruption of civil war and the exile of the Roman families) provide VERY dramatic shifts in gameplay, first changing your style of combat, and then completely flipping the world on its ***, turning trusted allies into bitter enemies, and forcing your war onto yet another front. These changes help to keep the pace of the game moving.
To summarize, this game kicks complete ***,if you're a dedicated wargamer, you owe it to yourself to own this game before any other wargame out on the market right now. It's that. Damn. Good.

Call of Duty-If you like World War II FPS Shooters and Squad Based Games, you'll love Call of Duty. It's a gem.

Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic-I have played many of the most popular role playing games, including the addicting Diablo I and II, the complex Baldur's Gate games, the IceWind Dale series, the vast Morrowind, NeverWinter Nights and the classic super nintendo Final Fantasy games. I'm also the proud owner of every official expansion pack for those games (yes, I do like RPGs). For the Star Wars fan that I am, Knights of the Old Republic beats them all.

For the casual gamer who is not a Star Wars fan, Knights of the Old Republic is one of the best role playing game available.

For the Star Wars fan, this is *the* game. Enough said.
And if you're an RPG fan and a SW fan, then this is just the dream game.

There are many more excellent games out there but these ones i play the most, especially KOTOR.It's one of the best games i have ever played.
