Ah, the obligatory suggestions… ;)

1 The arrows used for drop-down menus and list sorting are way too similar (I don’t know if it’s always been like that, but I just noticed). See:

I clicked on those arrows, thinking I’d get some new-fangled feature from the upgrade, and instead sat through as the list was re-sorted.

So, I’ve created two new Sort arrows that are standard arrowheads instead of chevrons. I’ve also created antialiased chevrons for the drop-down menus and the elements that use the collapse chevrons (such as the Quick Reply box). You don’t have to use them, of course, but just thought I’d help out. :) They’re attached to this post as Arrows.zip (which includes a Readme for where to put everything).

2 When using the Advanced Post Reply composition, none of the drop-down menus have outlines anymore (e.g., the Fonts menu, the Sizes menu, etc.).

3 I’ve remade a few icons (the Checkbox icon and several of the IM icons) to better match their background colors (none of that nasty white crust on the outlines ;)). They’re attached as Icons.zip.

4 The spacing on a lot of things is kinda wonky now. For example, on the forums homepage, everything’s much tighter together. Also, it seems like posts are back to 1.0 spacing instead of a higher multiple (I could be mistaken though). And the Welcome back, Username! message is cramped against the top of the yellow box.

5 The Manage Attachments popup is missing several icons.

Well, that’s it for now. :) Thanks again for all the hard work you’ve put in! 👍

Trust you Sage! Good on you though, I did notice the same things, but I just thought I was being too picky, so I shhh'd about it.

Yes, leave it to Sage to stay on the course to pixel perfection! Good observations and even better execution, as always. :)

1. Good point from a UI expert, and thanks for the new files!

2. Really? I still see them, if you are referring to the ones that I think you are.

3. I didn't notice a crusty outline, but I put the new files up anyway. What did you change about the check mark?

4. The line spacing hasn't changed in the master.css file, but there could be something I've forgotten which overrides the setting. I think it looks fine as it is, though. I don't remember making any modifications to the padding in the forum home page cells, but sure enough they are closer together now. I also kind of like that because you don't have to scroll down so far just to reach the bottom of the page! :) The yellowbox margin has also been fixed.

5. Have those always been missing? Know where I can get some 16x16 icons for those formats?

Well, I don't see any black borders outlining what Sage described.

Also, about the spacing issue, everything looks normal except this:

There's 2 spaces in between "Today" and "by", instead of 1.

You’re welcome. :) I don’t think menu_open.gif was replaced though (the others look fine).

Nope, not here in neither Safari nor Firefox (four negatives in one sentence!):

(Sorry, couldn’t resist the printing joke. :D I know, I’m a dork.)

Here are the old icons magnified:

If you still don’t see it (lower gamma setting on your monitor, perhaps?), here it is with the contrast turned up:

What did you change about the check mark?
Similar problem – “crusty” shadow. ;)

Old:

With contrast:

Okey doke. :)

Yeah, I mentioned them when GTP 8 was revealed, but I think you forgot. ;) I’ll try to find some replacements (or make I’ll make ’em if I can’t find any).

Sage: While you're wet-sanding the finish with 1000-grit paper, would you please put a medium warm-grey border around the "Guides Editor" badge?

Wow - perfectionism to the extreme. ;)

Nah, it's all good. It's surprising how slightly changing the icons can make quite a difference. :)

I don't get it...

These drop down menus don't have an outline. They kinda flow into the textbox. (Notice where the 'This' kinda just disappears behind nothing?)

He wants it to look more like this

But less of a crappy 2 second Paint job.

As I'm not a dork, does anyone want to explain the "Gah, I'm bleeding!!" printing joke?

EDIT: Is it because there's no border and the background colour can "bleed" into the rest of the page?

Daan, it has been explained, as I couldn't understand it either. :p

Yah - it bleeds in :)

While we're giving out suggestions, may i suggest that the multiquote button looks more like the reply and report buttons? It looks a tad out of place, although i'll probably get used to it.

I like it the way it is, but if it was burgundy instead of green, I think it would fit in well with the theme of GTP. But I don't want it to be a big square button like the Report and Quote buttons.

Sort of. A "full bleed" page is one where the image goes off the edges of the page with no border or margin. So he's saying the menus are like a bleed.

One of the avatars are spelt wrong (the one that ChampCarFan currently is employing) it says 'Porche 911 GT3', when it should be Porsche.

Multi-quote is getting a work out here. :)

You’re welcome. :) I don’t think menu_open.gif was replaced though (the others look fine).
Thanks again - I'm not sure how I missed menu_open but it's there now. The border around WYSIWYG controls is not an easy change in the forum style options, and I don't think it's a big enough issue to spend time digging through the code to change it. You should notice I changed the background instead to a very light blue to add some contrast.

No, the border is missing on the Guides Editor badge by design.

No, I'm running out of stock icons! :p

OK, now we're taking it a bit too far... :scared: :p

Yup, I noticed that a little while ago – good enough. :)

I looked at other forums for the little attachments images, and they’re missing the exact same ones, so I think it’s a problem with the default vB installation. I’d go ahead and make them myself, but they’re all either Windows-only stuff or extremely obscure, so I don’t have much reference to work with…

Sage, you have done a great job, and seriously, I can't think of a single forum that I have been to, that actually has all the buttons for the attachments form, so I personally wouldn't worry over that too much. 👍 :sly:

Just a quick suggestion. I was taking rep away from someone and I got this alert box:

You see, I would consider myself lucky if I didn’t recieve that rep back. :p TBH it’s probably too much effort to add all of the if and else statements, just to cater for us grumpy people who want to take away rep, but I think it’s worth bringing up the mistake.

Also all of the reputation things say “Add to someone’s Reputation.” Clearly we won’t always want to add. :p

That's been mentioned in another thread.
