Matt...This is GOD, I currently have no other way to commincate to people except through the internet (mainly chat rooms), but besides that, what's up man, it's been a while since I last saw you.

Gimme a Holla,

God

Not really, actually this is a person, not a celestial being. Don't worry about your account being broken into, it's not being abused or anything, I'm not going to f* up your ****, that'd be messed up.

Good times,

*******

err, GOD
__________

thats that they said lol some people are pretty weird (like myself) but i say this today and was like WTF????

Where? In your email, pm box, through the door?

More info please.

That isn't someone gettng into your account. It just seems someone knows you and sent you a PM.

Edit: Or this guy GOD is messing around with you. Are you sure you don't know him?

He/she must know you because he/she is calling you by your first name. Sent him/her a message. Ask him/her who he/she is.
That message is not so bad. ;)
If I sent a message to somebody personally, I want it to stay personal. I wouldn't like it when somebody shows my message on a forum for everybody to read.
A personal message has to stay personal. :)

GOD can be female, no?? :dopey:

GOD = God of Drift?

edit: i'd second famine. this "problem" is so trivial, it's almost stupid. If you're that concerned, there's a simple solution...and you could've tried it before making the thread.

He/she must know you because he/she is calling you by your first name.

Doesn't have to be somebody that knows him - it says his name in his profile ;)

rickjames: what was the username that the pm was sent from? If it was your own username, yep, somebody has logged on as you with your password, and sent you a pm. If this is the case, take famine's big purple advice, and change your password.

If somebody has logged on with your password, and you are 100% sure of it, perhaps an admin or mod can spot different i.p addresses for login, and either link that to another username, or atleast proove that you are not going crazy.

*Moved*

Um, you really need to give us more details – Are you saying somebody sent you this PM, or somebody used your account to send you a PM to yourself? (Which, frankly, I didn't even know was possible.)

And yes, change your password if the latter is true.

Indigo.

And uncheck the "Keep me logged in on this computer" button, if you share the computer with anyone.

it was sent to me i dont have it anymore or i would take a screen shot but im the only one that uses this comp so yeah im gonna change my pw

I think the thing people are trying to get at is, WHO SENT IT TO YOU?

If it came to your account from someone else's, you haven't had your account compromised. If it came to your account FROM YOUR ACCOUNT, then you have.

if u read what he wrote he said yes he is in my account but he diddnt screw anything up guys read it before asking questions sorry if it sounds rude but ur answer is in the message all i want to know is who got into my account

So...

Someone sent you a PM from a completely different account telling you they'd hacked your account.

And you'd believe them why?

If they'd sent you a PM from YOUR account it'd make more sense...

Touring Mars
 do you mean God or Jordan? :sly:

Within this context, they amount to the same thing!

I'm having difficulty taking this seriously. If the account had genuinely been compromised, and the user was concerned about it, is a thread in the off-topic Rumble Strip the place to voice the concern?

This is either a big hoax, or someone has no clue about personal information security and how to identify and deal with suspected breaches.

We can't because
rickjames
i dont have it anymore

Do you believe that a guy with a fake name, is seriously going to be telling you the truth? I wouldn't trust it. You still haven't told us who it was from.

If it wasn't from your own username, then your account isn't being hacked into.

no no no i got a pm from myself and i diddnt send it cuz i dont type that well and dont use perioids and that stuff and i know jordan is the owner of gtp but i never talked to him
AND I DID MA COPY AND PASTE AT THE BEGINING OF THIS POST ON WHAT IT SAID BEFORE I DELETED IT!!!!! jeez

Change your password then, see if it goes away.

Ahhhhhh! I see! In that case, then, somebody has been on your account, or atleast using it.

Well, your posts are really not very clear. Saying the same unclear thing a million times doesn't usually make it much clearer.

Change your password. Problem solved.

Well, I did a quick test and you CAN send yourself a PM. So, this now has some more validity to it.

However, I believe if you change your password this shouldn't be an issue.

Also, why would you delete the original evidence. We could've used that for deducing what happened here.

So, now you've changed your password, this shouldn't happen again. If for some reason it does, don't delete the evidence next time. If you PM inbox is full, and you can't delete anything, click the "download messages as ..." bit along the bottom right. Then you have a backup of all your pms.
