Sunrise / Sunset

Does anyone know if the sunrise and sunset in GT5 coincides with real world sunrise/sunset times for the current day?

The reason I ask is, the current sunset for Nurburg, Germany is 8:10 pm local time, and in practice mode the sun seems to be setting right about this time.

Just wondering if the sun and rises accordingly to date; i.e. it'll set a lot earlier in winter and vice versa for summer.

My guess is that the time-of-year (and thus, sunrise/sunset time) is fixed within a given track, and it’s by coincidence that the in-game clock is the same as the real-world clock at sunset at the moment. (My guess is that it’s set up for whatever time of year the 24 Hours Nürburgring takes place in.)

For example, the Toscana tracks (the dirt track and the Course Maker tarmac template) are all set around a particular place in Italy, all have selectable sky time from 18:00 to 21:00 (6pm to 9pm), which runs from “late afternoon but still bright” to “nighttime” and every beautiful moment between them. If the sun’s angle varied over the year, then 18:00–21:00 would be mostly daylight in Summer (now), mostly nighttime in Winter, rather than consistent. (Headlights automatically come on about halfway through that range.)
That, or the selectable sky times would have to vary to keep pace with the sun, such as 20:00–23:00 in Summer, 16:00–19:00 in Winter. But the Course Maker version lets you assign a default sky time to each track, so it’s not likely to vary.

So, to answer your question: probably not. Sunset in the Nürburgring will probably always be at 8:10pm in the game.
 
One of my fav cruises is on the ring 24h with a day to night transition, I do it several times a month, & have been since GT5 came out. I've noticed no difference in time settings as the year progresses (I use the exact same ones all year round), so no, it's not sync'd with the real world. It would be a nice touch if it did though! :D
 
Thanks for the replies. I guess the sunset is just a coincidence. Still, would be cool if the angle of the sun and the sunrise/sunset was the same as real life.
