[If anyone would like to volunteer to take a picture, it will go here :)]
Thanks again, Denur!

Race Specifics

  • Arcade Mode Time Trial - hotlap
  • Power: 0% (580 hp)
  • Weight: -10% (1476 kg)
  • Tire Type: S1
  • Driving aids and transmission mode are open.
  • Standard OLR cleanliness rules apply: Two wheels must be in contact with the track at all times; rumble strips are part of the track; no contact with walls allowed at any time. Where there is a rumble strip, the area beyond it is not considered part of the track. Otherwise, all hard surfaces are track, including dusty areas that are not bordered by a rumble strip. See this post for some examples.
  • Please PM me your final time by Tuesday June 16 by 11:59 pm GMT (world clock).

Series General Rules

  • All six races will be run in Arcade Mode, using a variety of the fastest road cars in the game (including some tuned and concept cars; also, most cars will have stock power and -10% weight), and each will last one week, with a submission deadline of Tuesday.
  • Standard OLR cleanliness rules apply: Two wheels must be in contact with the track at all times; rumble strips are part of the track; no contact with walls allowed at any time.
  • Discussion of times in the race thread during the week will be limited to split times (T2, T4, T6). Final times are not to be discussed and must be submitted to me by PM before the week's deadline.
  • Please save your best lap replay in case I request proof, which is unlikely but possible. Unlike last series, since there were no problems, I will not require photo proof of the winner. However, I reserve the right to request a photo of a time if I am suspicious of it.
  • Each race will award points towards the overall championship standings to all who submit a clean lap/race time, with the winner receiving 10 points, second place 8, third place 6, and fourth on down each separated by 1 point (5, 4, 3, etc.). No points will be awarded to a non-submitting driver. You do not have to announce your participation in the championship beforehand: anyone may participate in a race and be counted into the championship points, even if you do not plan on running all the races; similarly, there is no obligation to participate in every race. The driver with the most points at the end of the six races will win the championship.

Where better to place a powerful supercar than on the long straights of La Sarthe? The speed of the Cizeta will be very apparent here, both in the speedometer's reading and in the braking distances. Once you figure out how to drive this antiquated and heavy boat, though, it should become fun to toss around. 👍 Make sure you read the information about the areas of the track that are legal and the ones that aren't, and note that the T-times that will be on the leaderboard are T2, T4, and T6. This car will take some getting used to, and I don't advise pushing hard for the best possible lap, but I hope you have fun with it. :) Enjoy the sound, too. 👍

I promise, there will be easier combos later in the series. :nervous:

Ran a few practice laps. T's in the ballpark. But it's a big ballpark. More time now that GTPLMS race for week is done, Like the way it handled. Just like a real car. Turn the corner at 90 mph and you'll end up in the grass.

I think I made this combo too hard, judging by the level of activity in this thread. So I guess it's time for a couple tips, although that won't make the car handle any better. First, short-shifting at about 8000 rpm is better than waiting until the redline. Second, even though braking very early seems critical in this car, I've found that it's actually detrimental to your time to brake early enough that you're able to take a perfect line around a corner; brake slightly later, even though you're compromising your line slightly, and you should see those T-times drop. Third... actually, I don't have a third hint, other than to say that learning what the car wants and adapting to it is what's most critical here. I hope my advice helped somewhat. 👍

My best lap is still very far from what this car can do here; on an earlier lap, I fluked practically every corner and was doing 0.7 better than this one through T4, and then, of course, made a mess of every corner after that. My current best lap is pretty good, but there's definitely a second out there for me (although I won't find it, as usual), and surely much more for a better driver.

Put in some time. Car does move. Up to 183-85 on the straights.

1'22.187 - 2'24.434 - 3'36'709

I'm going to race this tonight and hopefully submit tomorrow.

Done what I can with this, no time for anymore laps, back off to Utah again tomorrow. :grumpy:

T2 1'20.064
T4 2'20.570
T6 3'32.757

Time submitted.

Can't get any better times without pushing it too hard and getting out of bouds

1'20.507
2'23.393
3'36.679

Submitting

Time submitted. Only got about 3 or 4 laps in, but at least I'll be getting some points :)

Congratulations to Smallhorses and raz_10 for your podium times, and to everyone for completing a clean lap in such a hard combo. :scared: I didn't get the sense that this race was a hugely popular, so I hope you all enjoy later ones more if this wasn't to your liking. 👍

I'll get a video of my lap up within the next few days.

Sorry, I missed the deadline .. again :(

Me too. I was striving for under 4'10 and I did it, but barely. I didn't submitted my time, though... It feels plenty useless for me to enter this with Austin on the same game

Was a very, very had combo in my opinion. Two of the corners I couldn't get anywhere near average were Musalnne and Arnage, and to a lesser extent, Indianapolis.

Do what I do. Enter it for the fun. That's why we play em, right?

I completely agree that it was a very hard combo. But where's the fun if there's no challenge? ;) No, seriously, there will be some easy ones, like next week's, and some hard ones, like this one. In fact, this is probably the hardest of the six, so don't worry too much.

Lucas, definitely submit even if someone else has gone faster, since a podium placing is still a great achievement with such a difficult car. I probably subconsciously give myself an advantage by choosing combos that suit my driving style, anyway, even when I try to choose many different types of them. And MadMax, don't worry about not submitting if you haven't had time to seriously try out the combo. 👍

Just for fun I ran this B Spec with same specs Austin343 gave us. My B Spec numbers are 99, 92, 90 and 9200+. Best B Spec Bob could do was 4'43.00 and it was a very very dirty lap. In the sand or slamming into walls at every turn. Lost sight of my ghost replay shortly after Tertre Rouge. Then added wt. to anchor car. Same result.

I finally have my lap on Youtube. I turned the sound way up on my TV, so it finally comes across in the video, but you do have to turn it up to hear it well.
