Welcome to the SuperGT PreSeason Challenge at Trial Mountain. Who will earn the early bragging rights by winning the warm up event to the SuperGT championship? Only time will tell The points will be calculated as per the normal rules, so best of luck one and all!


General Information and Regulations

All rules, regulations, car specifications, and races are controlled by SuperGT sanctioning body, GTMSA. Any and all questions should be directed to GTMSA officials (namely me ABud) and officials will do their best to answer in a timely and accurate manner.

All drivers must run at the specified weights and horsepower settings provided by GTMSA for each round. Horsepower and/or weight settings are adjusted for competitive reasons each round based on finishing positions from previous rounds.

• Standard Online Racing Rules Apply.
• No Cheating, hybrids, etc. You must run the car specifications I give you
• Try keeping at least 2 wheels on course. Long races = small mishaps, but absolutely NO shortcuts
• No wall-riding as well. Combine with penalties, this will slow you down considerably, so don't do it.
• All decisions by GTMSA officials are final

Event Specific Information

The two yellow hatched off areas shown bellow are NOT part of the track. Having all 4 wheels in these areas constitutes a breach of the OLR rules. Its worth bearing in mind however that the AI will use these areas!

Qualifying

• Arcade Mode>>>Single Race>>>Original Courses>>>Trial Mountain
• 5 lap Single Race
• RM tires only
• No tire wear
• AI @ your choice from -10% to +10%
• AI tires always set to RS
• Forced Pit Entry penalty system
• ASM is prohibited TCS is optional
• Points: 3pts - 2pts - 1pt
• 10 second penalty added to race time if you dont submit a qualifying time
• Top 3 qualifiers take a 1% weight penalty to the race

Wow never had to avoid the yellow areas even in WRS! You are harsh ABud! Oh well brings about a new feel to an old favorite. I guess you have to play by the rules to have a straight up honest place to race. Thanks for the thorough layout.

I don't have the locktite NSX as of now. Can I use the Takata nsx? If not how long does it take to get it? Thanks for the help

@ shoman: You can buy the Loctite NSX from the Honda dealer for 1,500,000 Credits in career mode. If you do that, it'll show up in Arcade mode, allowing you to use it in this competition! Hope that helps!

What about the white line on the right side of the track before the final left-right turns, and on the left side as you're coming out of them? Can we cross those (the AI does)?

As for observations, the Takata's a bit more of a handful than I remember it being. Taking the downhill turns out of the forest is a particularly easy spot to break loose at, even with TCS.

And it's too bad this game doesn't know to put other JGTC cars up against you.

Once you've selected the track and car an options box pops up asking for Manual/auto gears, driving aids, tires and AI difficulty (+-10%). This sets the AI up so select soft tires here then change your tires in the car setup screen later when you change the HP and Kg settings.

Technically outside the white lines is not part of the track. Having 2 wheels on the lines tho is in:tup:

If people want we can discuss sector times but not final lap times. Talk about the cars too if you want!

Excellent...where to begin. Well, I've decided to put in a lot of testing, and chose three cars that I believe fit my driving style after ... well ... testing them ALL beforehand. The tests I've run are 10 lap races at Suzuka, 4 lap races at the Ring, and 10 Lap races at Apricot Hill, with AI set to 10 with SS tires. Tire Wear strong, and I am using RM front and RS rears.

GT500
I've chosen to test three cars for this class, the WoodOne Supra, the RX7 LM, and the Nismo GTR.
The RX7 is definately the best on tires, but not the best on speed, which belongs to the GTR. Problem with the GTR is it pushes harder than a woman in labor, especially under power. This causes the front tires to wear faster than the rears, even with mis-matched compounds front and rear. The Supra is a balance between the two, but you definitely feel the extra 10kg and lack of power that it was saddled with this year.

For those of you that know my style of melting the tires to get the fastest laps, it would seem the RX7 is the best choice...However, the GTR suits my driving style better, even with the higher tire wear, and brings me the fastest overall and lap-times. More testing will be needed.

GT300
The three drives I have chosen for this class include the Wedssports Celica, the RE Amemiya RX7, and the CUSCO Impreza. It's a fair tossup here as well. The Celica suffers from a lack of horses and could use a diet, but still performs admirably, with fairly even tire wear all around, and corners nicely even on orange tires. The RX7 is again light on tire wear, but also light on torque, which leads to being bogged down on hills. The tire wear could bring an advantage to late race tire strategy and fast-lap points. The CUSCO just isn't the car for me. The car is snappy, with good grip and decent turning ability, but i cannot float it into the corners like I am accustomed to. Sadly, I think this one will be quickly replaced by the S2000 which i ran in season 4.

Overall the Celica is still the number 1 choice for me, but I've driven that last year and haven't tested the S2000 yet, and I love the high-rev screaming Honda.

This is a fun pre-season so far, and even if I didn't agree with the stats on some of the cars, Abud did a good job balancing...better than I did originally. (well done!) All 10-lappers are within 3s of one another (very consistent lap times) for both classes. Should be interesting.

Just to confirm there are no points for fastest laps this season, just the points (2 or 1) for finishing within 105% of the race winner.

One thing I'm curious about. I'm thinking of entering both classes since FGT is at an end this sunday and the MX-5 Cup will be two weeks from tomarrow. Can I still register an additional car for GT300? Also, the rule regarding the Yellow line, just messed up to me. There hasn't been one race or series here where I haven't gone below the yellow line and this is gonna be just awkward. Even more nuts is that the usually not so bright AI gets to use it and when it comes to racing a car much faster trying to pass you, your just opening the door for them. Its your rule, but it just kills the lap times and the potential of getting away from the prototypes.

Meh. I didn't have many problems with not using the yellow areas, though i think it's because i have a different line than everybody else through those particular corners...

Oh, and good job on the equivilency formula's! It feels like you actually have to be a good driver to set a fast time than just picking the right car and running around for X amount of laps!
