SERIES NEWS ANNOUNCEMENT. READ CAREFULLY

There are several changes to the series being introduced in Round 5 at Grand Valley. First, in the GT300 category, a Competition Adjustment has been made to the Wedssport Celica. Because the Celica has been dominating this season, GTMSA officials have decided, after more testing, to change the stock HP rating of the Celica to 309HP. This is an initial 2% reduction in base horsepower and should make the entire class more closely competitive.

Second is a change to the weight penalty system. With the massive dropoff, especially in GT500, a re-vamping of the weight penalty system has been issued. Now, 1st place will receive a 2% penalty, 2nd a 1% penalty, and the last place finisher will receive -2% and second-to-last will receive -1%. These will still be in effect for the subsequent three rounds and will only be accrued in races. The HP restriction will NOT be affected, and will continue to be accrued for both qualifying and races.

Rules and Regulations

All rules, regulations, car specifications, and races are controlled by SuperGT sanctioning body, GTMSA. Any and all questions should be directed to GTMSA officials (namely me ICallShotgun) and officials will do their best to answer in a timely and accurate manor.

All drivers must run at the specified weights and horsepower settings provided by GTMSA for each round. Horsepower and/or weight settings are adjusted for competitive reasons each round based on finishing positions from previous rounds.

Standard Online Racing Rules Apply.
  • No Cheating, hybrids, etc. You must run the car specifications I give you
  • Try keeping at least 2 wheels on course. Long races = small mishaps, but absolutely NO shortcuts
  • No wall-riding as well. Combine with penalties, this will slow you down considerably, so don't do it.
  • All decisions by GTMSA officials are final

Qualifying (5 Laps)
  • Arcade Mode>>>Single Race>>>Original Courses>>>Grand Valley Speedway Normal>>>Select Car
  • AI difficulty set to -10 - +10 for all classes
  • AI Tires must be RS.
  • Tires restricted to RM or any combination thereof.
  • Tire Wear set to NONE
  • Penalty set to FORCED PIT ENTRY
  • TCS is allowed IF DESIRED, but NOT mandatory. ACS is PROHIBITED.
  • Gearing is free.

Well, I was completely surprised at the last race. I guess qualifying is where I shine best.

Chris, I hate to point out a possible error in my favor, but shouldn't I be on +3% weight after round 4 (instead of +1%)? Just want to make sure before I do a run...

Nope, it's correct.
You had +1% for 2nd in R2 Race
You had -2% for last (timed) place in R3 Race
And you had +2% for 1st in R4 Race.

I mean, if you want, you can throw a few more kg into the car, but you don't have to.

Not one of my best courses but I'll give it all I have. Can't wait for Monaco, it's one of my top 5 courses. Have a feeling Neil is going to do real good here at GVS, watch out everyone!!!

EDIT: Hey where did our Premium Member logo go?

Woo Grand Valley - a circuit I love! I actually think I'm pretty good here, I get a better grasp of the track than anywhere else. Having said that, I will now probably proceed to fail miserably!!!!!
Well, good luck to everyone in the qualifying! :)

No that's quite all right thanks ;)

Okay so I see you've retroactively applied the new weight penalty system 👍

Shotgun, it seems some of the weight and HP numbers are missing. I guess it's safe to assume we should be using the default numbers we were given at the start of the season?

OH JEEZ!
Thanks CAM. In my haste to get the results up, added to that changing the weight system, add to that retro-ing the weights, add to THAT my girlfriend visiting too, I must have forgotten. Yes, if the number is not there, it is the STOCK weight and/or HP from the start of the season. I will fix this either today or tonight and get the corrected numbers up asap.

Sorry.

Y'know? One should never let real life get in the way of running a series Chris! Tsk! Tsk! Especially the female of the species!

( wanders away, shuffling his feet and looking sheepish! )

I sent a PM to ICallShotgun about this a couple days ago but haven't heard a response and since there's only a few hours til deadline I thought I would ask in here. Since I'm, obviously, coming late, does the HP penalty apply for qualifying or am I to assume the the original rules in place at the beginning of this season apply? Meaning, no HP pen. for qualifiers but weight penalty, which there would be none since I haven't raced yet.

Is this correct?

Just sent my times in!

A bit shocked and perturbed by it being a Saturday deadline, and not a Sunday!
So my times, from what would normally be a warm-up night for the usual Sunday deadline, are now my late submitted times!

Chris, Is that right? All the other deadlines have been Sundays!:boggled:

Thank goodness I sent my times in earlier this week.

Oi hang on! That had better be a typo about the deadline! I don't even look anymore because it's always on Sunday...

EDIT: Time submitted. Good luck all 👍

Crap!!! I didn't even read the deadline date since it has ALWAYS been on Sunday. Oh well I lost out. Just wish you would have made it more obvious like in large type stating NEW DEADLINE DATE or a reminder in a post. Still my fault for not reading every word in the instructions. Guess I'll trash my times and concentrate on the main race

Now I'm really mad, the deadline said Sat. and I missed it as did several others so I didn't send in my times because they would not have counted, but now I see that people that submitted yesterday (Sunday) have their times in the results!! What 's going on Chris?

Andy!
Did you bother sending your time in the Chris?

I'd be PI$$ED! Your " Aww Cr@p!" post is before what would normally be the deadline, init?

I would PM Chris and explain the situation, see if he'll take you time into the results.
No explanation, or comments from From him either!

Neil

No I didn't send my times because I was 20 hours late and I know the rules about late submissions. Chris should have either made it clearer that Sat. was the deadline or posted that it was a typo and Sun. was the deadline. In 5 seasons I've never submitted late or had a DNF. I just don't like the way it was handled!! I don't feel I'm the one that needs to explain.

Drew I tend to agree, however given that there was no explanation nor reasoning for a sudden change to the series-standard deadline, the logical assumption for me was that it was a typo, and so I submitted my times as normal. Had the deadline in fact been Saturday, I would've raised a stink after the fact.

I'm quite surprised that so many people just didn't bother to submit...

I didn't submit because I forgot about the race completely, Ive had so much work on. I've missed three rounds now and I'm probably only going to miss more so I think, unfortunately, I'm going to have to withdraw for the remainder of the season.

This is my last year at uni so once its out of the way I should have a lot more time on my hands aside from working with real racing cars.

Series deadline has always been Sunday night. I did miss the date by 1, but it's always been sunday night 6p CST (GMT -6). If you have better times, I guess it's only fair to send them to me and I'll post them. There are several of you that I trust enough to do this for.

No better times from me Chris, but I am sure that Drew would appreciate the offer.
Buddy, we all mak mistooks! ;)

And I am sure we all appreciate your trust!👍
