Round 5 of the championship, and the grid moves on to Fuji. After a no show from East in the previous round SagarisGTB now has a nice cushion at the top of the GT500 standings and the battle is on for 2nd, 3rd and 4th. Kingofweasles still has an outside shot at the GT300 championship too but needs to continue his great form from round 4 and bag another big win. Watch this space

General Information and Regulations

All rules, regulations, car specifications, and races are controlled by SuperGT sanctioning body, GTMSA. Any and all questions should be directed to GTMSA officials (namely me ABud or oldmodelt) and officials will do their best to answer in a timely and accurate manner.

All drivers must run at the specified weights and horsepower settings provided by GTMSA for each round. Horsepower and/or weight settings are adjusted for competitive reasons each round based on finishing positions from previous rounds.

• Standard Online Racing Rules Apply.
• No Cheating, hybrids, etc. You must run the car specifications I give you
• Try keeping at least 2 wheels on course. Long races = small mishaps, but absolutely NO shortcuts
• No wall-riding as well. Combined with penalties, this will slow you down considerably, so don't do it.
• All decisions by GTMSA officials are final

Sprint Race

• Arcade Mode>>>Single Race>>>World Circuits>>>Fuji Speedway 90's
• 5 lap Single Race
• Weight penalty in effect
• RM tyres only
• No tyre wear
• AI @ your choice from -10% to +10%
• AI tires always set to RS
• Forced Pit Entry penalty system
• ASM is prohibited TCS is optional
• Gearing (top speed slider) is own choice
• Points: 6pts - 5pts - 4pts - 3pts - 2pts - 1pt
• 20 second penalty added to race time if you dont submit a time
• Top 3 take a 1% weight penalty to the race

Hi everyone. Due to xmas madness the deadline for the sprint race has been moved back to the 23rd of december. The full race round will also be extended to help everyone out to the 3rd of Jan.

Just my luck too. Have both runs done.

? for all. I set my top speed slider so that I redline right before I brake for the first turn. How do the rest of you do it? No problem if you don't want to give the good opposition any help.

That's usually the best way to do it - at least when you know that you won't have drafting help, set the gearing as low as possible so as to avoid hitting the rev limiter. There are cases in which using one or even two fewer gears than the car has is faster, but the difference is usually slight and is probably not worth a lot of testing to confirm.

I've got the speed limiter just right
I'm about 2-3 secs off the fastest times recorded in both classes

Edit*- Just looked at the last round here (https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/showthread.php?t=112330), and I'm 7 secs off the best time in GT500 and 2 secs off in GT300

Times submitted. Having fun over at the tuning challenge. Was able to draft off of the Lancia Delta AI+10 for 4 out of 5 laps on the straight in the 300 class. I suspect you guys were way past it by then. 500 class was 1st by the 2nd lap.

In the GT300 race at +8, I used the FTO as a drafting partner to try and get a faster time. I hope it works...

I have petitoned Abud to change the leaderboard standings. After being shocked and pleased at the same time. I went back and viewed my race over again. From the far chase view it shows on 2 occasions at turn 3 and 1 at the entry of # 7 that I didn't have the required 2 wheels on the track. This wasn't as noticable from my bumper view. My apologies for any confusuion this might have caused.

Comendable honesty from oldmodelt has cost him 5 points! However the 20 sec penalty to the race time will not apply in this case. Appologies for the lack of info and ugly look of everything, not much I can do whilst at my folks.

Congrats to all finishers, i knew my GT500 time would be poor, only had enough time for 1 run and got held up horribly on the 1st lap. Pace was not good either tho, during setup for the championship i was 1 sec a lap quicker...

In the GT300 race at +8, I used the FTO as a drafting partner to try and get a faster time. I hope it works...

I did the same and was able to draft the FTO all race long, except on lap one. On lap one I got a nice tow from the Toyota RSC Rally Raid Car. Without the draft my Subaru just gets blown away by the competition on the straight.

At the start, everyone gets bottled up in turn one (lap 1), so after four tries, I was able to cleanly drive around the outside of the 5th place AMG Mercedes 190E Evo Touring Car and the 4th place Lancia Delta S4 Rally Car during turn one. I actually take third place from the Mitsubishi FTO in the hairpin on lap one (I put two tires up on the grass on the inside of the hairpin so the FTO doesn't whack me). I then chase the Toyota RSC Rally Raid Car for the rest of the lap and down the long start/finish straight. The Lancia Delta S4 comes past me towards the end of the straight, but I am able to outbrake both the Lancia and the Toyota into turn one, and take over 2nd place in the race. During lap 2, the Mitsubishi FTO gets its act together, so during the run down the long start/finish straight on lap 2, the FTO blows my doors off! I quickly jump behind and pick up a draft!

I am able to follow and draft the Mitsubshi FTO for the rest of the race, sometimes even pulling alongside, but don't try to pass because I don't have the speed. Finally on lap five as we go down the last straight, I lose most of the draft behind the FTO and get caught from behind by the Lancia Delta who knocks me off the podium!

My second best race had a similar off road trip thru turn number 3 as mentioned by Oldmodelt. The dirt on the right as you come out of the turn is hard to stay out of because you want to keep your speed for turn 4.

I suspect that my Subaru will have no chance in the long race because there's no way to get a drafting partner for the entire race.

Even with my placing. I am happy with my races. My lap times are within the range that I would like with the leaders. As well as the rest of the pack. Looks like it's a pit strategy week for me. I'm trying to figure out how to equipt my cars with RExtremelySH tyres. So I don't have to pit.
