Hi, im a long time Supra fan, and i just cant get enough of it. If there are any more dedicated supra fans among you, let me know by posting in here, and tell me your fave Supra in the whole of the GT Series, and let me know why you like it.

thanx ! :D

My fav Supra is the Denso sard:drool:

I just love this car, handles superbly and gets me good times for the databases :) it is my favourite car in the whole game

In real life. I LOVE Supra's

I like how it was the first street car tested in North America to pull a full 1.0G on the skidpad in 1992. I like how if you calculated its weight against its 1/4 mile times it would need almost 450hp. I like how Car and Driver said it was the best car under $200,000 etc

However, in GT3 I was sorely dissapointed. The Supra RZ feels like it is driving on Alto Works' wheels. I dont ever drive mine, and when I do, I find that even 550hp seems to overwhelm the chassis. I can never get the suspension set up to have a nice mix of sharp turn-in and high lateral grip. I just think that either GT3 didnt do it justice, or the Supra was already performing to its limits in stock form.

I love Supras in real life because I have seen them blow the doors off of C5's Vipers anything you can name. I even saw a stock Supra blow the doors off of a 300ZX TT that apparently had 600hp. All of these races I am talking about are down at the local drag strip.

The racing Supras arent that good, and I find that they are worse than either their NSX or GTR (JGTC) counterparts.

is Toyota planning to put Supras back on the line, or are they officially toast?

GT2 - 1993 TwinTurbo R
GT3 - Castrol Tom's

I heard they're coming back, I forgot the info though, I heard about it a year ago.

The MK5 is supposed to release in later years...but as with all new concepts for the 21st century...it looks like crap.

300ZXs are a bit on the heavy side and arent really renown for thier speed anyhow :/

I remember reading a review once on a '91 ZX that stated it was the perfect "sporty long distance tourer".... that sujests that it wasnt built for outright acceleration but more for long trips with a touch of sportyness :p

hehe

As I quote from my newest (Feb 2003 issue) of Sport Compact Car in the Rumors & Lies section...

"Toyota's successor to the Supra will likely be called 5000GT and feature a 5.0-liter, DOHC, 32-valve VVTLi V8 for power. Styling is supposedly inspired by the classic 1967 2000GT"

It isn't a "new" supra, just the car that is replacing it... I would say, think what Nissan did to the Z is what Toyota will do to the 2000GT.

The new Denso Sard Supra in GT3 is my fave

Talking about the new Supra I have seen many concept pics, and one of them i was quite happy with, kinda looked like a large version of the celica, but a little more round edged. Ill have to have a look for it again.I think that the new Supra may even come under the LEXUS brand !!! Well thats what i heard anyway.... keep me informed.

Well that makes sense, maybe it will be a bit more of a sports tourer. Hey maybe it will get the v8 from the Lexus SC430, now that would own.

i actually own a supra in real life, so it would be my favorite car to drive,(not to race, but to drive) cant seem to get all that power to the ground,

i own a 1990 Supra Turbo and i love it :D

Oh man, I pray that it doesnt come under Lexus brand, and it wont if they actually call it 5000GT after the 2000GT of the 60's.

I also doubt it will have the SC430's V8. First off, that V8 is too small although I've read it feels as punchy as a much larger V8. But 300hp wouldn't be nearly enough, I expect this thing to have 400hp if it comes with that 5.0 V8. How could Toyota release a V8 with barely more Hp than the 350Z's V6?

If they make the "5000GT" expect:
Toyota brand name
In excess of 400hp

They are going to want to showcase their ability to make a potent V8 especially when it has been dressed up with VVT-i. Plus, the 2000GT of the 60's was one of the most sophisticated cars of its time. It was entirely built by Yamaha, and was auctioned to the highest bidder. Nissan(Datsun) decided they could make something cheaper and better (240Z) and Toyota bought it to increase their performance image. Unfortunately people werent ready for the 2000GT and it is rumored that Toyota sold them nearly for what they bought them at. The 2000GT had a 2.0L Inline 4 with DOHC and 16V. It had 150hp which was unheard of in those days for a teeny 4 cyl. So if Toyota trys to keep in the tradition of the old 2000GT's high tech mood, definitely expect over 400hp.

And even more speculation, but if Toyota actually sells a 400hp+ "Supra" type car successfully. Expect Nissan to whip out a Twin Turbo 350ZX faster than you can blink. It, too will be in excess of 400hp, and I know that Nissan has even made a Twin Turbo prototype for testing. They are prepared to release it pretty quickly maybe even regardless of Toyota releasing a 5000GT.

With the RX-8, S2000 350Z and possibly a 5000GT; I sense another Japanese Heyday. Lets hope this one is more successful than the last. I just hope alot of these companies plan on doing what they've said; i.e. RX-8 Turbo(Speculation), S2000 5 Cylinder(315hp, they've made one!), 350ZX Twin Turbo (They have it waiting to get the go ahead), and the Toyota 5000GT with probably 400hp+. I am going to have a whole new batch of favourite cars!!!!
