So I finally made my way into the online races today for the first time. I've spent my time working through 92% of the offline stuff and enjoyed it. I've enjoyed this forum and the people in it in the short amount of time I'd been on here and I guess I thought that there would be similar people online but WOW. Instead what I was greeted with were people making fun of the cars that I was driving, my driving skills (or lack thereof), and instead of being friendly conversation I felt like I was sitting in a dorm room party. I mean if I wanted to hear that I'd go play some Black Ops and listen to the rambling, incoherent banter that inevitably ensues because someone is being "cheap."

Don't get me wrong, I'm all for horsing around and hassling one another, but that's with friends. Not random people that join on a whim.

I dunno, maybe I'm just stupid for expecting something different. I really thought that this game would be different but I guess not. :grumpy:

95% of the drivers you meet online will be kids who think they are funny. You are best off finding some like minded drivers who prefer clean races or even just clean driving around tracks. Many of us just get together in a lounge.

Can't blame the game for someone else's idiocy. If it were me I'd just find another room, or like nonrunaway said, get together with some people from this site. Much more pleasant experience.

Once Shift 2 and Nascar '11 are out, I'm sure alot of these kids wont be online near as much.

Just have to wait it out, and join some leagues on here.

There are all sorts man ... sorry you ran into the bad bunch ..

funny you mention nascar .. LOL

To be fair, most of the Nascar rooms i've been in where pretty good. You just get the odd idiot who comes in to ram everyone.

Then you get the whiners who cry everytime I tap them accidently.

But generally, everyone's nice.

Under development, but this will be the key for people like us in the future. I know where you come from, random online racing is a joke!

Hurts my brain listening to some of the people talk online. Don't worry, you aren't the only one.

If I join a random room, I sit there for a moment and figure out who needs to be muted. It makes most races so much nicer.

Browse some of these threads for casual racing clubs, and start building up your friends list. There are some pretty fast dudes lurking about.

Good luck!

👍

You´re not the only one who´s experienced that. Don´t give in to such cheap moves. When you got a bit into GT5, it WILL satisfy you with everyhing you´d expect from it. As a tip, keep an eye on LFA´s link.

At least, there definitely ARE room hosts who make superb rooms, but it just takes time to find them. Try to send a friend request to "Tvensky", there you should have a good start. You can refer to me, "awan_afuqja". Always good for clean racing. Beware, since the last weeks he´s hosting only damage heavy rooms, so respectful driving comes a little more into spotlight ;)

Have fun, maybe we´ll meet up sometime..

I will be opening a public room sometime this weekend, to snag some more clean drivers. You seem like the type of driver we are looking for. We will have regular lounge members racing and monitoring for dirty drivers, and they will be booted. I will send friend requests to those we deem to fit what we are looking for. I expect not only clean drivers, but gentlemanly drivers. Also, parents allow their youngsters to race in my lounge because clean language is expected. Look for a post later today, or tomorrow, with details.

I've hosted a few room with some generally good racing. However you will always get a muppet here and there.
I had to boot a load of them out the other day for being absolute idiots.
And then they have the cheek to message me with abuse because i've kicked them out.
Keep searching you'll find some good racers.
Add me if you want I tend to host rooms daily some for straight out races and sometimes just Track days your more than welcome to join.

It's just a matter of finding the right bunch of people. I did a lot of A-spec, joined random rooms, even joined some leagues, but nothing seemed right or fun until I joined my current league. It includes drivers that are faster, slower and around the same pace as me. We have casual events and some serious ones too. Every one gels well together, is respectful and enjoy a good laugh while racing. Good times!

Just keep hunting on here until you find the right group for you. Good luck!

Yeah it's 'international waters' out there in the public rooms. People think they can do what they want behind the safety of being anonymous.

I've hit rooms on-line full of idiots. But then found others that are a good bunch of guys doing clean respectful racing. If you find a bad room, just pull out and look for something better. Sometimes it can take a while, some nights I've given up, But you can find them.

Best idea is to join a league on here.

+1

I don't think I would even attempt to join a random room, way too many idiots out there.

BTW post #200 for those keeping score at home ;)

Justdiver - you are in Southfield, MI. I am just south off the Southfield freeway in Dearborn. Hit me with a friend request in the game. Maybe we can share rooms where we've had some good success. I am finding about half and half cool rooms and wreckers.

I'm a pretty clean driver except for last night when I decided to be a turn one hero and went 5 wide into the first corner. I did have the inside, but got bumped two wheels into the grass. Not a good outcome with 12 of us in the race. Sorry if anyone was in that room last night on High Speed ring. Still a fun group of people. Noone yelled, no retaliation, just a couple of growns and "oh mans."

I was in a room yesterday with no driving aids. Laguna. This guy comes in and does pretty good gets like second in qualifying. Meanwhile a player is all over complaining about over steer. I was watching! Then then guy all over the place loses control and the new guy couldn't stop and barley hit him. Then he crys saying he was spun by the new guy. I laughed t. Then the mod kicks the new for really no reason than the out of controll guy blaming his crappy driving on someone else. To funny. Think the mods name was ozwheels. I had to leave that room just out of spite cause I saw what happened

I always look for rooms ristricted around 550/500pp with titles that include "clean" and my experiences are rather good.
You do sometimes encouter people who are not super clean but i can generaly live with that, as long as they don't use you as a gardrail in turns or bump you off when you try to pass :yuck:

Had some really good and close races today, might be a euro thing? ;)

Depending on what you're looking for, hit me up, my friends and I run a "wreck intentionally and you're done" room and it works quite well and we have a good rep among people. Don't worry, we are kids in high school and hate little 9 and 10 year olds who can't drive.

When i have got a lead and someone starts ramming other peopke, i sometimes stop and roadblock him, and let the rest pass. That'll teach 'em!

Agree 👍; and as you race; you will increase your (race the same) friends list too;

Now, I mostly just check my 'community/friends' list and see if they are in a race lobby already 👍; rather than the larger online list of race rooms

I love good clean racing with any style of car. If anyone knows people or tends to run with people at night let me know!

I was just booted from a room after being in it less than 10 seconds. I enter and the host immediately changes HP limit. I, being new to room, begin to type if the care about RM vs street cars. The room is titled Lupo Enduro and no one was in Lupo. As soon as I begin typing the host, Loopy Louie was PSN I think, says over mic "Oh...dont be typing anything man" another guy says "yea boot him"

No warning, nothing. If we are not meant to communicate this way, why's it in the game? Why not have "mics only" in title? People are just bizarre in the way they act online...some are high and mighty and many have a few screws loose.

Me and a few of my friends usually host a classic muscle sort of room on weekends. We usually race clean on Daytona and some road courses when we've had enough of that. We try to weed out the "kids" and others who generally don't race clean. I've hosted some good rooms and made some great friends doing so, you can find good rooms just keep looking.
