Suzuki Escudo '98 speed problem

I recently bought a Suzuki Escudo trial car 98 from the online dealership. For some reason the car's speed is messed up. It goes into 5th gear and reaches about 190 then the speed freezes for a bit. After a while it will break the 200 and go into 6th but will reach about 225 mph then the speed starts falling till it goes down to 190 in fifth gear. I have played around with the transmission...maxed out the top speed but to no effect. I have played with the spoiler and same reullt. I have changes the spring coefficients and no result. The mods I added to the Escudo were soft racing tires (36,000... most expensive one if I have the name wrong) and the 20,000 turbo kit. I also spent 500,000 for the engine overhaul and did an oilchange. Structural rigidity is still left..another 500,000. Anyone have any idea what is going on?

Please Help!

You gotta be careful when playing with the trans. if you max it out 6th gear will not be there, i have no problem hitting 380 to 400 kph my top speed is set to 420 kph(260 Miles).

I've been having a similar problem with the Escudo in B-spec mode. It'll only hit 300kph in the open, which is understandable with all that aero, but when drafting it should be able to go 400 I recon. No matter what tuning I do though, all of my Bobs will brake as soon as the car hits 340 to 350kph (220 mph). There's no reason for it I can work out ... I thought maybe the front was lifting, so they braked to bring it back down, but with the latest update I threw in some ballast at the front ... no change. Its very annoying!

How do you do that???
I have the same mods except mine goes to 185mph, and just plain won't go any faster (not hitting the rev limiter)
That said I haven't bought the 500,000 engine repair and the aero is still at full, but the engine overhaul never does anything for me and when i tried it with the aerodynamics all the way down it still only went around like 195 ish
did i just buy a bad escudo?:scared:

well even doing 340 - 350 kmh is still pretty fast

Unfortunately not fast enough for the Like the Wind Indy event. The Escudo beats everyone round the bends but loses ground on the straights. I'd be happy if Bob got to 350kph and stayed there maybe, but he keeps on braking so his speed drops back to about 320kph from memory, and then its back up to 350 before braking again etc etc. I've got the transmission tuned for a max speed of 400, but Bob just keeps on braking for no reason at 350 ... its like he's too scared to go any faster!

I haven't tried that setting and I will give it a try tomorrow! Looking at the chart for hp and torque it shows a strong steep decline at a certain RPM at the end. I think its just the way the engine is built and GT5 made that change as compared to previous versions of this car in earlier GT games.

Engine overhaul does factor in if your car has been used quite often or its pretty banged up from crashes. The change in hp is minor however (<100). Aero full = less speed so you might want to try lowering that. I haven't played with the Escudo ever since I this post so I do not remember what other settings might help.

The 1st race is easy in a ZR1 RM. Second, I beat it with mazda furai...barely(luck maybe...took several tries). If you can ignore that event and can get to lvl 23 A spec then use the ZR1 RM to beat American Champ and then grind the indy race. Earn 4 mil + (100K for mods) and buy the 908 and then beat the event.
