Hi Guys,

I’m thinking of switching from the Logitech G27 to the Thrustmaster T500 RS. I already know all about the pros and cons of each wheel.

What I really want to know from those who have made the same upgrade, is if you felt any difference on your lap times. Meaning, does upgrading from G27 to T500 really helps improving lap times, or on the contrary, there’s a significant drop?

The shifter isn’t an issue for me since I don’t use it, just the wheel paddles…

Thanks a lot for your help…

Ive recently gone from G27 to T500 and havent looked back.

Cant guarantee your lap times will drop straight up, thats comes with much practice and building your racing skills. When you get a feel for the wheel and have broken it in, then your lap times will gradually start to drop.

It is a step forward in regards to vehicle control and ffb as it is very precise and powerfull.

And I can also say that since owning the T500 my skill set and driving has improved 75% and lap times have dropped considerably.

75% Really?! Wow, that’s awesome!!

But what do you think are the bigger differences between them, that made you drop your lap times? What about the Paddles, did you get some time to adapt do them not fixed on the wheel :nervous:?

Thanks for your help…

If you want to improve your lap times you should upgrade you brake pedals!mods like load-cell,Perfect pedals,Idraulic brake pedals improves the lap time significantly more than the steering wheel!
However I agree with the post of Cliffo!

I saw a larger drop in times going from my Driving Force Pro to G27 than I did from the G27 to T500.

Ok, i see!

But what pedals do you suggest? Aren’t the T500 one’s good enough? Are they better than the G27 ones?

But did you or did you not improve your lap times even for a bit? What you saying is that you don’t see any point on upgrading to T500 beside pleasure, precision and better feel?

Thanks...

I was disappointed at first since i made that change from g27 to t500.

Now later after few hours of racing, i could not ask for a better wheel...lap times are much quicker and can attack better and more precise and wheel is smooth and it is easier to fix if you lose control etc ..it was good on g27 but still better on t500.

The paddless not moving with the wheel is not a problem you'll adapt to it very quick....

Now just waiting for that F1 Wheel to arrive...got it cheap for 114 euros :)

Ok thriller, thanks a lot for your help!! 👍 Good luck on your new F1 Wheel!!

The t500rs pedals are:tdown:I use the G27 pedals with a load cell and for example my best time with the Clio tropht at Croft was 1'33,7 and after the mod' is 1'31.5!
Better steering wheel/ffb does improve the driving skills though but brake pedals mods is the way to be more competitive!

Lol, I didn't say that but it is partially true. Lap time improvement will be different for everyone. Some people will run as fast with the crappiest wheel you can find as they would with the best and other will see huge gains. My lap times improvement were small, hundredths to a tenth or two depending on the circuit but I did see improvement in consistency of replicating lap times. Most importantly I have a better experience using the T500. It is an awesome wheel.

Ok mcfizzle, roger that!! Consistency is good!! 👍 Maybe that's all i need to improve...

Cheers mate...

Wow, now I’m worried!!!

Let’s suppose I mod the T500 pedals with load cells (I don’t have a clue what this is, and how it’s done, but it looks nice!!). Do you think that my problem is solved? Can I aim for better lap times with the mod, or it will only work on G27 pedals?

Thanks…

The T500 does not work with CSP's on PS3. The CSP's are by all accounts better than the T500 pedals but you have to choose if you would rather have the wheel or the CSP's.

I'm speachless!! Gotta have that!

Just one more question, does the T500 works with the Clubsports pedals on PS3? If so, what would you do? Would you mod the T500 pedals or buy the clubsports?

What are you playing mate?GT5,pc simulatore?it makes a big difference:)

I want both... :( What pedals can i use with T500 wheel, with load cell, if any?

What about John Bodin's load cell mod for T500?

Yep,go for Bodin's load cell mod and you will be very fine but you should know that the learning curve of the load cell is about 1-2months and you will need a lot of practice(it's all about muscolar memory)but once you learn how to brake with it your laps time will improve a lot!

Hi guys,

I’ve been analyzing the john Bodin T500 brake pedal mod solution since you’ve mentioned it. It seems that there’s an argument between the 35k load cell versus de 15k one, due to the force needed to move the pedal.
I’m thinking on waiting to see what john will decide on his v2 version (15k or 35k).

Another issue is that some guys are talking on a total price of 200$ (shipment costs included). I think that’s a little too much for me, for a mod! I think the mod is worth it, but as I said, it’s just too much for me…

Other thing is the discussion about an interface for CSP’s to be used with T500 wheel… I would prefer to pay 200€ for the CSP’s than in a mod… I don’t know… I’ll just have to wait and see…

Thanks guys, you have all been so helpful…

Cheers…

Guys, help me out here!! Please!

The more I read about wheels and pedals, the more I see the pedals are the most important thing, as you all said! Everything points me out to the Porsche 911 GT3 V2 Wheel with the Clubports Pedals V2…

What a mess!!

I’m such a fan of the T500 wheel, but with those pedals, I don´t know…

Help Please on Porsche 911 GT3 V2 vs. T500…

Look,if you are playing only GT5 the t500rs pedals are fine!go for it and you can mod it in future! No way the Podan load cell will cost 200$,I can't believe that!
