XBOX??? LOL
I play gt5 and that is currently the only racing game I play meaning just ps3 however! As games progress if the platform options are for pc or ps3 I would probably pick the pc version over ps3, my main question is:
Is this wheel worth the buy? I mean I am not a hardcore gt5 gamer however I have recently been to goodwood festival of speed car show and I played on this wheel for a competition (redbull x1s) and I must admit I enjoyed it even tho it was harder but that's what makes the difference between the wheel and controller, does it get easier?

I am limited on space meaning I may not have room for a simulation bucket-chair setup so can this be played on with an general office chair?

Can it be mounted to anything?

Finally are they worth the money in your opinions?

I know there are probably many many posts like this one but I would like updated answers considering there may be competitive hardware nowadays and if you recommend another type /brand please let me know, thanks for taking the time to read this I look forward to your replies,

Regards

I would say yes to all questions.:)

I use an exelorator wheel stand and a regular leather lounge chair.

My t500rs and Th8rs are mounted to the wheel stand. It can stand in a corner out of the way, or fit in a closet, then just slide the legs into a chair and Bam. You got sim rig.:)

Oh, and any chair 21 inches wide between the arms(I think) will work great.

It's a great wheel for PC sims as well. Primarily because the driver is fully supported by recent sims like rFactor2 and iRacing.

I find the T500 as my favorite wheel, I've had many different Fanatec wheels, Logitech wheels. I only race with the PC, iRacing and the T500 works perfectly for that. It does also work well for GT5.

Yes and yes. Controller and wheel are quite different and you can get used to either one. However, the wheel adds a level of immersion that the controller never could touch. If you like to drive, the wheel can't be beat. If you like to game, then maybe not.

Yes.. if you have a table to attach it to of course. A wheel stand is also relatively cheap and might be even more convenient since some fold down and you don't need to constantly reattach it.

Can it be mounted to anything?

The table mount is good.

Finally are they worth the money in your opinions?

Completely. In my opinion either go cheap and get the Driving force GT, which is way better than it should be for the price. Or get a T500 level wheel. The Fanatec CSRE is also good at this level. The trade off with the Fanatec is a poor rim, but better pedals. It might be more expensive especially when you factor in their table clamp. I've never tried the CSRE, so that is just what I've read - but I do have the T500 and love it.

Thank you for the replies, they have very much so set my heart on one of these, I cannot wait to get it :) anyone know best place ( cheapest) to pick one of these up from?

A while back Costco had a package deal pretty cheap. Not sure if it's still available though.

With most Fanatec wheel unless it's a package deal (usually comes with the standard pedal- which is actually not as good as the T500RS'), you usually pay extra for the Elite and the CSW pedals. That would add to cost by $150 or $250 respectively. Mind you both these pedals are worth the money. The downside is that load-cell can be a bit iffy- not everyone will have bad experience but it's always good to have an extra set of pedal sitting around.

Thank you for the correction, I just assumed it would come with the elite pedals.

Thanks for all your help but I couldn't Convince myself to do it, my room is where I place my ps3 and there just isn't any room for an insane simulation setup, I'll just have to dream! however I did want something.... just smaller and that contains a gear shifter/clutch sooo I brought a G27 for £169.99 and will post a picture up of my setup as my occupation is a carpenter I'll make something cool out of my wooden computer desk many thanks for your help hopefully iv made a better easier/cheaper choice and not the compleatly wrong choice its just saved me over 50%. Pics will follow in 3-4 days keep your eyes pealed ;)
