Tagging?

Anyone know what the Tagging does?

I've so far tagged up 32 places (All in LS (Not unlocked SF/LV yet!))... but I haven't gotten anything... I presumed that they were the replacements for Hidden Packages... but I'm obviously wrong?!

Anyone got an idea?

Well the Hidden Packages have been split up into 3 groupes. Horseshoes, Oysters and Tag. There are 100 Tags, 50 Oysters and 50 Horshoes. There are also pictures that have to be taken all over San Andreas.

As for Tagging, all that I can figure out is that it completes more of the game (gives you more %). But there might be something that you recieve when you spray all of them.

Keep playing...I just opened up 2nd island, you get a camera when you get there--I don't know for sure but I think the game will let you know-- I haven't done any 2nd island missions yet...

I don't think we can truely call them cities either since there are small towns scattered around too-- north side of Los Santos for instance-- the small town there is definitely not in the city of Los Santos---

I think the areas each can almost be called states (Southern California--- Los Santos), Northern California (San Fierro), Las Venturas (nevada)-- I know California is one state but I used to live there and it really should be divided in 2-- its become too big (population of over 30 million)-- 1 of out of every 10 people in the US live in California-- LA metro area has over 15 million people-- I usta be one of them (I grew up east of LA in a city on the eastern edge of the Urban sprawl out there.

Metro Areas maybe-- which are located on islands---

I'm going to say once again--- Holy cr@p this game is big--- I was exploring, ended up on north end of San Fierro and wanted to save-- I didn't have enough cash to buy a safe house there and it took me "forever" to get back to my closest one in Santa Maria Beach....
 
I just say the Country areas are outskirts of the Cities. I find that is the best description, so City is the correct term to me, although Island is perfectly suitable. I haven't started them either.

You get a Save Point automatically next to the first Mission point.

I wonder if you get any "rewards" like you did for finding Hidden Packages? I hope not. I hated all of the Guns, etc lying around everywhere. Very messy.
 
If someone was a IGN Insider account, you can check out the guide. It's still getting done, but they tell you where all of the tags are. Soon the Oysters, HP and "Snapshots will be added too. I'm going t otry to find them myself thought :D
 
Considering I've already got 34 tags and I've not left the first Island then I reckon I'm gonna wait until I've got most of them...

If anybody does this, make an individual thread on it. Two reasons: some people may want to find them themselves. It will be handy to search if it goes past the 1st page. Also, keep Oysters, Horseshoes, Tags, etc in that 1 thread.
 
This is pure speculation but:

I'm thinking they are divided by Island/city/metroarea/state (pick one)-- what I mean is I'm thinking tags are all on one island (maybe 2 or possibly all 3), clams are on another, horseshoes on another.

I'm only basing this on the fact I didn't find any clams or horseshoes on/in Los Santos--- did anyone else??

yes. Each Island has it's own thing. LS is tags, LV is horshoes, SF is photos and the oysters are spread out (in the water). And yes, you do get weapons for completing the tags. not sure about the others.
 
I hope this isn't a major spoiler or something...

Tags give ya the Cheapest automatic pistol a Ak47, a sawed off shotgun, and molotovs in the Johnson Family house...

There are 50 pics to take in SF and they give Mini SMG, Shotgun, Sniper Rifle, Grenades to the main base in SF...

LVs 50 horseshoes give more luck when gambling and something else...

Pearls give larger lung capacity and more sex appeal... Pearls are impossible to find without guide... I found them in the weirdest areas...

And lastly flowers... No need to collect them at all... But they help during dates...
