For people who have prologue, I'm guessing still only PAL people and far-easterns, me of which is the former, have you noticed how odd the takata nsx sounds? Turn up your tv and just listen to it at:

1. 2000 revs
2. 4000 revs
3. 10,000 revs

There can't possibly be any engine in the world that sounds like that, surely!!!

Yeah it does have a pretty odd sound range, now that I think of it. I'd love to hear that thing in real life.

I was searching for a video about the car on the internet, but I found this text, interesting :

Flat Bottom Restriction Introduced

There are a number of rules that bring the JGTC cars much closer to European and American GT regulations, especially in the area of aerodynamics. Development of the modern racecar has made impressive advancements in various technological aspects. But there are a few areas where restrictions are being imposed; for example, the year 2000 regulations calling for modifications in an effort to reduce down force.

For 2003, a ruling that has been enforced for a number of years in the Le Mans and FIA regulations makes it way into the JGTC. Between the centerlines of the front and rear wheels of the car, the underbody must be fitted with a flat bottom. As a result, the down force of the car is affected remarkably. "My first impression of the car during the shakedown was... 'My goodness. What's that feeling? There's a bit less down force, I wonder?'" commented Daisuke Ito after driving the No.16 NSX entered by Mugen. "If we set the rear wing-angle to that of last year, there is entirely too little grip. There has been a tremendous reduction in down force."

I wonder if we will be able to feel this difference between the 2003 JGTC models and the cars of the previous years (if they are in GT4) ...

The sound reminds me of the Porsche Carrera GT as tested on Top Gear last week...lovely screaming engine!

That Takata Dome sounds amazing when idling though, kinda how I'd imagine those American muscle cars to sound when we eventually get our hands on them.

I have to say the range of sounds in GT4:P compared to that of GT3 is unbelievable. PD really have excelled themselves with this. I remember a while back there were threads commenting on how rubbish the sounds in GT3 were. Well I don't think they have anything to complain about now!

I fully agree :)

The Calibra Touring Car in GT3 had a high ptiched squeal too, so why does the takata dome NSX seem odd? :odd: :D

The NSX does sound really ... odd, I must admit. Infact I think the sound on the whole in GT3, GT-C and Prologue is very much a missed opportunity, with hollow and weak sounding cars. Play GTR on the PC, if you want to hear how a game CAN sound.

Mostly good work Polyphony, but shame on the engine noises... Very weak for the most part :(

lol, I know what you are getting at, and yep for sure its not a very fair comparison of me... But they could have made the sounds a little ... richer?

As a dynomometer operator for a living, I know car noises pretty much inside out, and I don't believe they have done quite as well as they could.

Maybe I am being unfair :(

I have tried and tried again but cannot gold in the Takata NSX New York 2 Lap time attack - First Blue Lesson.

Any help would be appreciated.

I think the Takata Dome NSX sounds awesome - different at least!

But does anyone know if any of the JGTC Supras in GT4P have NA V8 engines? Cos I thought many of the 2003 cars ran V8s instead of the old 4-cyl

Hmm, seems really hard at first, cos my practice lap times were at first far outside the Gold time. Unfortunately the key is probably practice, but things that save time are:

-Braking early and accelerating right through the corners and over the inside ripple strips
-Using manual transmission which can affect your braking distance, and the way your car rotates through corners
-Driving calmly and smoothly through the corner complex
-Choose your line down the straightaways and then just let the thing drive straight.
-Braking late into the big circle corner (!) at the end and then lining up the exit onto the main straightaway so that you accelerate right onto the straight. You can be in 3rd gear by the time you run out onto the straight.

Pfft, you've probably got gold by now anyway!

That's about where I'm at with the Dome... I find that using the rumble/ripple strips actually doesn't help in some of the bends as it can throw the car through the air and thus loosing precious track position and accelerating time.

A FOUR CYLINDER SUPRA? Man, I could have sworn Supras were sixes. They certainly don't sound like four cylinder cars, the monotonous P-O-Ses.

We like V8s. Big five hundred cubic inch Muscle car V8s. And big superchargers. Oh yes. Strange, I'm not american, but I do have to admire some of those noises. I wonder what a V16 sounds like, I know 4,V5,(V)6,V8,V10,V12 but that cadillac V16 thing (at least i think that's what it is) I don't think i've heard. If there's the CIEN on GT, maybe that thing will get in too?

But yeah, leaving the Takata at (well below 2000 revs even though thats what the gauge says - you can rev it so the sound pitch nearly doubles before the needle moves) makes an unbelievable sound.

For those of you who have GT2, dig it out and get the Lister storm V12 out (mine was racing-modded though i dont think that matters) and nail the throttle at the beginning of a race - that's the dictionary definition of bizarre. Also note the revmeter needle goes miles off the scale when it hits the limiter.

Oh and the speed12. Call me imaginative if you will, but that sounded like a pneumatic drill to me.
