Pretty bad focus hunting there. Were you pointing it at a featureless ceiling or something? Noise & speed are about the same as the non-USM Canon 50mm F/1.8 lens I've used. I've got quite used to USM.

Yeah, my wall near the ceiling. It won't do that unless I'm pointing it at a matte white surface with the exposure cranked up. The point was to demo the focus noise and speed in full travel like some of the other lens videos do.
You should have spent some time focusing it on actual objects for it to focus on. When it's not hunting like that it seems to be a lot faster. This is my favourite lens I've ever used.
