I guys, just wanted to start a thread about the tank car. My problem is the same as the problem I have with people using the red bull. They are both misused. (check out my thread on the X2010) people assume that by having the biggest, most powerful cars in the game gives them the right to shunt others. The 290mph bulldozer" X2010 and the "get out of my way poor person" tank car are prime examples of this. I join lots of shuffles, but there are occasions where I want to go for, say, a drift on tsukuba in my car. So, I join the lobby, and I am greeted by a swarm of x1s, driven by 9 year old french kids. Same story goes for the tank car. Let's say I join a le mans room. I hop in my r10 tdi, I'm doing 218 mph down the straight at circuit de la sarthe, and then, BAM!! a tank car sends my flying in the air rolling end over end, because he parked himself across the width of the track. Don't get me wrong, the x1 and the

Don't get me wrong, the x1 is brilliant, but only when it's driven properly. The tank car on the other hand, needs to stay put where it belongs. In Jay lenos garage.
The thing is pointless :-)

the people who drive the tank car or x2010 or now x2011 are foes... but not the cars

I know, the name of the thread is in the wrong context sorry m8 :-)

Is there an unmodified Tank Car racing series, seems it might be a fun, light hearted series to race in. Tough car to drive quickly around a track.

I love the Tank Car, now even more with something resembling a proper cockpit view, but I've never encountered a room where they were 'misused' which seems to be a common occurence.
I guess the name Tank Car isn't helpful either, although the fact it refers to its engine is probably lost on those who just see it a some big Tonka-toy which can cause carnage much more easily than any other car due to its sheer size.
So it gets a bad reputation unfortunately (just like BMW acquired a questionable rep due to the behaviour of its drivers in real life) but I've had a few (private) online Tank Car-only races on a variety of road tyres which were hugely enjoyable.

You can't modify the Tank Car in the first place, the only thing you can change are the tyres (and perhaps chassis reinforcement which this car doesn't need, it needs to flex a bit).

Unmodded sounds perfect. Keeps the competition even. Laps of daytona road course would be a blast with the draft set to weak

I used it to drift and I loved it, but I guess it isn't good for regular racing.
It might be fun to see a whole lobby drive tank cars.

I gave my Bob the tank wanting to have a laugh at him trying to use it. I was suprised to see he won the race. WTG, Bob!

My kids love the Tank Car A.K.A "The silly ugly old car that won't turn!"

I still have to encounter a Tank car online honestly, and if you search for specific rooms like "only road cars" or limited rooms, you will never encounter the x2010/x2011 too, trust me.

Tank Car on the ring at night with pouring rain is the most fun you can probably have in GT5...

Remember the good 'ol days where people used the Tank Car to hit the X2010s through the walls so they could make millions in minutes? I mean the Tank Car had one of the biggest roles in GT5's short history so far.

I used to use the Tank Car as an Anti-griefer vehicle. I would join lobbies where we'd be doing hot laps (or something... I really cannot remember for the life of me what we were doing) and when we'd get that occasional random who preferred to run other cars into the wall or drive around the course backwards, I would go whip out the tank car, pin them to the wall and just sit there laying on the train horn while all of my fellow drivers just went about their business.

It helps that I'm actually quite talented at whipping the beast around so I would often catch them off guard with how easily I could maneuver the boat.

Lol your description actually made me lol hahaha. Finally, a respectable tank car driver :-) lol hehe good job

What I like GT5 for is the wide variety of cars with unique behavior.
Ultra-slow to lightning speed, understeer to oversteer, old to new and
tiny to massive.

The tank car definitely has its place in the game for me, because it perfectly represents one of these extremes. And I love the unique style of driving, which is necessary to drive the vehicle safely maneuvering through curves.

^ This 👍

The tank car can do the Nurburgring in 8:25, so it can go relatively fast despite it's 3-ton weight, in the hands of a driver who knows how to apply the throttle properly and fight the momentum.

Definitely useless in the hands of 10-year olds :yuck:

Agreed :-)

This car is awesome:D Wheel spin in 3rd gear at 100 km/h.

That's to be expected when you can put out enough torque to wrap a Dodge Ram around your axle.

I'm a friend of the tank car. Try it in a one make race at Chamonix in snow storm, the thing is brilliant! Has to be done in cockpit view.
