The Tatra 603-2 B5 Marathon is a heavily modified, racing version of the iconic Czechoslovak luxury saloon.
Developed specifically for endurance touring car racing in the mid-1960s, this car achieved legendary status at the grueling 84-hour Marathon de la Route on the Nürburgring.
Unlike the standard road car, the B5 Marathon version features lightweight fiberglass and aluminum body panels, a stripped-out racing interior, and distinctive wide air scoops on the rear flanks to cool its unique powerplant. It is easily recognizable by its striking orange and black racing livery and massive open exhaust pipes.
Driven by a modified, air-cooled 2.5-liter V8 engine mounted in the rear, it produced around 140–150 horsepower. Combined with excellent aerodynamics and an upgraded chassis, this 1,000 kg racing "whale" could comfortably exceed speeds of 200 km/h (125 mph), routinely beating agile Western sports cars on the track.
It would be a fantastic and unique addition to Gran Turismo 7, representing the rich motorsport history of Eastern Europe and offering a truly unmatched driving experience with its rear-engine, air-cooled V8 layout.
Specifications:
Engine: 2.5L air-cooled V8 (Type 603H) Power: 145 hp @ 6,000 rpm
Weight: 1,000 kg (2,204 lbs)
Drivetrain: Rear-engine, Rear-wheel drive (RR)
Top Speed: Over 200 km/h (124 mph)
