There’s an old saying where I come from; “I’ve done so much with so little for so long that I can practically do anything with nothing”…….lol. In my world that is basically how it was with racing, we didn’t know what we were doing in the beginning and we didn’t really know how bad our stuff was, but we got out there with what we had and made due. I heard stories about how sprint cars were built on a shoe string and raced. There are so many stories about doing it on the cheep.

My idea is to pick the seasonal bonus race series like the one coming up #8. The game is how little can you use in performance points to win the race? I don’t know how to verify a cars setup that was used in the race so in the beginning the winner would have to submit the replay as proof but mostly it’s the honor system.

The competitors would join Team Bailing Wire and then when a competition comes up you would declare which car you are using for which track. After that you would run the race and tune your car so that you just beat the first place car before the finish line on the last lap. The person with the smallest gap at the finish line wins the competition unofficially. All the competitors who want a shot at the title would pm me w/ your performance point # and your finishing gap.

Each performance point is worth 1/100 of a second, example:

Winning Member Name: Jo Blow
Gap time: .130
PP’s 550

Challengers Name: LaCrashra
Gap Time: .430
PP’s: 450

------------------------------------------ How The Math Works Out ---------------------------------------------

Gap Difference: .430 - .130 = .3 of a second
PP Difference: 450 - 550 = 100
100 x 1/100 of a Second = 1 second

JoBlows new adjusted time compared to LaCrashras time is 1.3 seconds
LaCrashras Gap time being .430 is less then JoBlows adjusted time so LaCrashras wins.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This is just an idea and open to suggestions and modifications. I think the idea has merit but the details need some work, let me know what you think.

At first glance this sounds like a good idea and will add a nice challenge to the game ! In the begining you could just award place to who ever uses the least PP as the winner then in case of a tie then you could fall back to the time thing . Just food for thought ! Sounds good

I'm just trying to get feedback right now so if someone else has any thoughts on how this challenge could be structured please add your 2 cents.... Thankzzzz

Sounds a lot like PAX classes at autocross. (That's a good thing)

I like the sound of it a lot.

edit: if you aren't clear on how PAX works I'd take a look and see if you can take any tips from that.

Sounds good its alot like how i play the game, especially the enduros, always trying to find the lowest HP car i can win a race with.

I'm definatley keen!

I'd have to dig around to find the precise rules, check the SCCA website if you want more details. I can give a basic description though.

Essentially, PAX classes are classes with handicap modifiers.
Last year I raced in our local Novice class with my GTI, a G-Stock car. I had a multiplier assigned to me, according to my car which when applied to my "raw time" gave me my final, or "PAX'd time".
So for example, I competed in the Novice class with a number of other cars, RX-8s, Porsche 911s, MR2s, a Z06 and some other "sport" hatches like mine. At the end of the night, if the driver of the 911 and I both had a raw time of 40 seconds, I would come out ahead of him in the final time due to my PAX modifier. The final results of that class are fairly tight considering the group had a GTI and an M3 competing with each other.

It basically attempts to take the car out of the equation and just measures the driver. I was a better driver than the driver of 911 as we had the same time on course despite the great disadvantage.

So as long as you can come up with a repeatable, fair multiplier based on PP points, you should be able to reproduce a similar system. 👍

Make sense?

Your right it does sound like the PAX style. Since there is going to be a consistant addition to the game ever so many weeks maybe the "Classic Car" event could be a test bed to sort the buggs out.
