Now that both Colin and Alistair McRae are without team drives for next year it seems that they are looking at setting up a family Privateer team to compete in next years WRC.

Best of luck to both of them, it would do the championship the world of good to have a competative private team in the mix and who knows how far they could take it.
 
I dont really see a good future in that. But what did come to mind is an extension pack to Colin McRae Rally '04 :D

Sorry, my post may not have been clear I said a competative 'private' team, something the WRC has not had in a very long time.

Sure you know Colin isn't going to drive on that team next year?
 
Yes, and Carlos Sainz says that if the team which is in isn't competative for him, he'll retire.
 
I don't see McRae piling up enough money to start his own team. I would love to see him in "stock" cars, I might have somebody to cheer for then. Or superbikes, he'd probably race locally though.
 
Privateer teams are rarely competitive, no matter who they are or how well backed. I'm skimming back through my memory, and I can't think of a single time when a privateer won a round of the WRC. Perhaps in the early 1990s, when the "Jolly Club" Lancias were reasonably handy.

I vote that Colin should retire. The only time he's happy (and even that is relative) is when he's winning, and, as discussed above, he doesn't have a hope in a privateer car.
 
That's a non-starter. It would cost them a fortune rebuilding the cars when Colin crashes it every rally.
 
"Rollin' McCrash" does have a tendency to wreck a rally car doesn't he? :p

It has been done before, but it was over 20 years ago. Could it be done today? Now thats a very different question, personally I think its unlikely. Then again if McRae wants his games to keep selling then he needs to keep competeing in the WRC. A 'Colin McRae NASCAR' game does not have quite the same appeal.
 
Always fun to watch Colin beat up his Focus.!

The new Focus is much faster but not reliable..
If they work on that last part they will do very well.....

I don't think the Focus getting any more reliable would affect McRae at all, hes been with Citroen for the last year!
 
if it were to happen, which i doubt, i wonder what his ride would be?
