Concluding to rumours Team Toyota's teamboss Bram would consider entering the Stars & Stripes championship with a special modified Dodge Viper SRT-10 '03.This car would be bought by a normal Dodge dealer and then Tom's would transform it into a complete race car that can handle up with the American superiour racing cars. "We're planning to compete in the championship, but I can't tell anything since we've got a very busy race scedual for this year", so far Bram.
Team Toyota officialy announced that they are competing in the Stars & Stripes Championship.Their driver will Bram, the Team's boss. As said by a Dutch newspaper on 19 March 2005, it is also confirmed that they would enter the Championship with a Dodge Viper SRT-10 '03. "We bought the car at a normal Dodge dealer, went to Tom's and modified the car to a racing car" .when they bought the car, it was fitted with a V10 8.3l(8277cc) 500 bhp engine.Tom's transformed this engine into a V10 8.3l(8277cc) 760 bhp engine, exhaust system included. New transmission, flyweel, driveshaft, etc. is also placed. The car's also fitted with Racing/Medium tires, a set of black rims, a new suspension and a new rear wing. "We needed the wing to allow maximized downforce, at first the car was uncontrolable due to no downforce and too much weight so we placed a wing and brought the weight down to about 1260 kg"
After Tom's and the pit crew of Team Toyota completed modifying the car, they went for a drive on their test track: Paul Richard. Bram: "After playing with the settings, we found some good set-ups allowing the car to corner very well"
All good but how are they stacked up against the competition?Bram: "This question has been hanging around alot (laughing).We are totally ready for them so bring it on, I should say".
This year they're facing four-time Stars & Stripes Champion Allan McDouglas, who's driving with the Panoz Motorsports team. "It's good to be back after my terrible crash at Laguna Seca two years ago", so far Allan.Since 2001, the Panoz Motorsports have made a big improvement on their car so as all the team's in the championship.
