Just how many different types are there for the 2.5" hardrive? I mean, theres' the old type which is the 50 pin, I have that kind in this laptop I'm using right now, the 120 gig I just bought to go with my PS3(as soon as it gets here) has a connector that has the gold plated fingers. Then I just bought an enclosure for it that happens to have a 44 pin connector. Needlessto say that wont work... Is it going to be hard to find one like this

This the 120 gig I just bought. Anyone know what kind of connector this takes so I know what to search arond for? Thanks in advance.

Serial-ATA, aka SATA. Most likely SATA2.0, 3Gb/sec transfer speed.

Not sure about the other ones you mentioned.. IDE is 40-pin/80-conductor. SCSI has several 50-pin versions, but I'm not sure about the 44-pin one. I'm thinking of desktop/sever drives, though, I don't have much experience working with laptop hardware.

What exactly are you trying to do with it? The drive you have there sounds like it would work fine in the PS3.

This bad boy is going into my PS3. I bought it the day I ought my PS3 (both on epay and pay and pay...) I would like to get an enclosure though for either this one or the 60 gig thats currently in it so I can have the extra storage. I mean keep all that I've paid for eh?

Took me about four seconds to find a whole stack of 'em on Newegg.

Go to Computer Hardware>External Enclosures. Then select drive size on the left, 2.5". Then select the interface, SATA. They have fifty-eight different models to choose from.
