I was recently turned onto this site and am now addicted. I've watched/listened to several talks and will share my short list of must see talks. Most of the ones that really peak my interest are technology related, but the topics are so vast, I am sharing this with you in the rumble strip.

Their mission statement is to spread ideas worth sharing. Here's a little blurb of what they're about:

www.ted.com
TEDTalks began as a simple attempt to share what happens at TED with the world. Under the moniker "ideas worth spreading," talks were released online. They rapidly attracted a global audience in the millions. Indeed, the reaction was so enthusiastic that the entire TED website has been reengineered around TEDTalks, with the goal of giving everyone on-demand access to the world's most inspiring voices.

Today, TED is therefore best thought of as a global community. It's a community welcoming people from every discipline and culture who have just two things in common: they seek a deeper understanding of the world, and they hope to turn that understanding into a better future for us all.

Some of the idea's shared that I watched were uses for a Wii controller, Photosynth, multi-touch panel, as well as left brain vs. right brain roles as discovered by a brain neurologists Jill Bolte Taylor that's a stroke survivor.

Very cool site and great information. Maybe start at the Top Ten list theme found here.

Some content may not be appropriate for all audiences, view digression is advised.

These are great - although I don't know if I could sit through a full four days of them at a TED conference

I included two TED talks in my first post in the new YouTube Gallery section, from Richard Dawkins and Dan Dennett... I recommend the Dawkins one most highly...

We use various TED talks as the basis of many discussions and ideas in some design theory classes of mine. We've had some really interesting things generated from things that those guys and girls say. Chris Bangle even has one (but if you don't like him to begin with, don't watch the video) about car evolution.

Not too long ago I created a thread here inspired by Bjorn Lomborg's TED talk:

10 of Earth's most important issues.
