Never learned to play it, but my mom was in a band in the 70s and has a 1971 Fender Stratocaster. I think it's just the American Standard one.

Dream Guitar: Robot Les Paul or the VG Stratocaster. You can change tunings, etc, without really doing much but turning a few knobs.

I think if I couldn't get my hands on those, I'd get a standard Gibson Les Paul. An old Fender Esquire would be cool too since I like a lot of Rolling Stones songs.

You should be able to pick one of the robots up cheap. They aren't popular and aren't faring well on the second hand market. And be careful with the standard. They aren't the same guitar they used to be.

Just thought I'd post a little update about my les Paul. I'm going to try a set of four wire paf clones made by a boutique operation in tokyo. If the pickups are as good as their others, I'll buy a "21 tone jimmy page wiring harness" from jonesy.
