To go along with the other thread about tires, I thought it would be interesting to hear about everyone's experiences with the temperature, humidity and weather settings in GT6. There was talk before release that temperature and humidity would affect gameplay, but there isn't much talk about it. Has anyone noticed if these variables make a difference in your driving?

While the weather graphics look good, the settings are difficult to figure out. Too many times if I select a weather variability over 10, it rains, the track becomes 100% saturated and it never stops raining or dries out. Maybe I haven't tested enough, but this seems to be an area that needs some work. Any advice on realistic weather settings are welcome as well.

I haven't seen humidity make a difference, but my favorite settings are 60% and changeability on 12. A close second would be 80% and 15. I definitely wouldn't call those settings realistic, but I think they're fun.

Generally speaking, it seems like the weather seeing percentage denotes the likelyhood of raining (particularly arty the start of the race). The changeability would tell you the rate that you go from rain to shine and how quickly the track floods or evaporates.

i have not played a lot with weather since 1.09 but i had good experience
i remember a race on Le Mans where only half of the track was under rain was tricky to choose the right set of tires
you can choose the number of weather changes, i usually set it to 3 or 5, like that i experience really good weather changes (or no changes)
since the start of summer, rain in the game is not as heavy as it was in winter or spring
you can still force it but i often use the same settings and see that weather evolve (based on a mimic of real world ?)

about tires, since 1.09 or maybe from start, the full rain ones does not wear much
if i'm correct they doesn't last for long in F1 races even when the track stay wet all the time
in GT6 they seems to last for ever except if the track dries up

from experience i have the feeling that temperature make your tires last longer and they have less grip
same when it rain (who can doubt that when track is wet, there is less grip )

the only thing i don't like (but the power of PS3 is probably the cause)
the track start drying on best driving line even if you don't drive on it
i mean in reality,
the track dries where the car is because the car tires pump the water, spray it in the air and the wind move the water aside
but it's not the case in gt6, even if the graphics shows what i said just before,
the track start drying from the best driving line and spread from there
and most of all, (vote for my question to kaz) the textures doesn't show much changes
on some tracks you don't even realize that the track is wet unless you look at the wetness %

We need more adjustability. 50% 75% & 100% have the same sky. 75 and 100% have about the same rain too.
I'd like to have cloud setting too in % and storm!
An option to have real time weather would be nice, if its raining at the Nür IRL, it is also raining in game.

I've not tested it in GT6, but GT5 at launch did have varying grip levels as the track temperature changed (although it didn't tell you what the track temperature was; it was pretty consistent and obvious as day shifted to night). It also had the drying line thing with wet surfaces, and tyre choice was critical only with grip reduction set to "real" (any pre-made event in the game defaults to using the less realistic option). On a wet track, comfort tyres were generally better than sports.

So I expect GT6 is the same.

They had real-time weather read-outs in GT5P, but it'd definitely have to be optional to use it to set weather in-game!

Thank goodness the next game is on PS4. . . , Too many limitations to weather when it comes to running this game on 8 yr old hardware.(10 yrs old when you factor Sony R and D time)

you're right and it's the same or nearly the same on GT6
to bad that there isn't a track temperature on the hud and tires temperature is not graded in three parts (inner/center/outer)
from what i said before, maybe it's not the rain itself that makes less wear but the fact that temperature goes down when it rains
