I have an angelfire account, will this "service" work with it? Also, will a lot of downloads make my acount exceed its bandwidth?
 
I don't know much about angelfire. But tehy do not last for very long, where as www.da.ru accounts last forever. I don't know about the limit either for geocities, as I don't make many sites at all.
 
Potato Cannons are also the first step towards fun. We gave up on our Orange Cannon though. :( Maybe another time.
 
here is one vid of a shoulder firing. This was the last shot of the day, but alos the coolest. Sorry for the quality, but this was done with a didgital camera, not camcorder...

I think you need to find somewhere to host it. I'm pulling it in at 1kb/sec. Should take me another 2.5 hours 👎 and I'm already 7% done.
 
Any Ideas where I can host it? I need about 30-40MB...

I will get more vids tomorrow. I don't know If we'll even shoot tomorrow. A Cold front has swept in from Canada (damn you canada!) and it is a bit nipply. Hair spray and cold weather do no mix, as we found out last night. We put the whole gun into my car to heat it up and then could get one shot off before having to warm it up again. it was about 25 degrees. It was freaking awsome when shooting it off at night. The entire chamber glows a bright orange and the abse of the barel glows a bright blue. This is through opaque PVC. :eek: We shot it off at the local middle school, since it is remote and no one was there at 10:00PM. There are potato peels all over the track! :lol: I also was peeling a little too fast and accidently peeled my thumb, not the potato.
 
We used to theoretically stick giant nails through the potatoes and launch them into theoretical barn walls about a quarter mile away. All fun and games until somebody theoretically misses and kills numerous livestock.

[EDIT] seen the vids and :dopey:. That is amazing. The shoudler launch looks really cool and did you hit something in the second video?

How were you lighting the 'fuel'?
 
We never hit anything, the stuff coming out of the cannon was some paper towel wadding so you could se when it shot off.

As an igniter, we screwed 2 bolts into the chamber and have the ends about a quarter inch (~.6cm) apart in the center of the chamber. We hooked the wires of the barbeque igniter to the bolts on the outside of the chamber to create an electrode inside of the chamber. A spark forms between the two screws and kaboom.

across the street from my friends housh one night at about 3:30 in the morning (we where doing a windshield and we lost the instructions total instal time aprox 8 hours) any way we saw these kids in the park acrossthe street with a big ass white tube and a buckett, then heard yelling and an enormous boom that sounded like thunder that was in your left ear. LOUD LOUD LOUD, i still dont know exactally what they where doing but i guess it was one of these. oh yeah and the cops where there in about 3 min thats really good responce, so becareful. but after all this descussion i want to build one with my uncle. damn i want to.

I posted that above at 2:30am, but I was on 'til around 3:30am. You should know me by now. 👍 I got up at 6:30am too. And went to school!

That's pretty much how me and my friend were going to do it.
 
Thought I'd revive an old thread to ask for some advice.

Basically I'm looking to make a potato cannon this summer as I have about 10 weeks off. I've managed to drag a mate in and might be able to get a few more.

I'm gonna start off small, basically 1 and a half inch barrell onto a 1 and 3 quarter inch chamber. This is for 2 reasons, one cost, I want to make sure that this will work first and get the basic idea right. 2, cost, I don't want to go blowing money on something that might not work great.

My big question is about connecting the pipes together. I haven't used setter/primers before, and was wondering if I could bolt it together? Simply because it would allow quick disassembly of the cannon for storage/transportation.
