Appalling! Watch the video and see if you can figure it out.

Really?! Toyota is promoting cyclists as obstacles, that should be very dangerously passed without any care. Very disrespectful towards cyclists. And I am not over reacting, everyone in the comments is mortified, lots of customers lost. I predict a significant drop in sales for Toyota.
Tsk tsk.

That is pretty bad, targeting cyclist. Nissan had a commercial where a Juke chased down 3 or 4 motorcyclist in a parking garage, it's almost impossible to find a copy of it now.

I have not seen that commercial, but if you can't find it now, at least Nissan had realized the mistake they made.

I don't see why everyone's getting so butthurt. It's a joke. Can't any company make a joke without everyone getting their panties in a bunch and overreacting? Good grief, they're just joking around. Nobody in their right mind would decide against buying a Scion just because they saw a commercial they didn't like. A significant sales drop? Yeah, sure. Remember that unintended acceleration fiasco? Yeah, look at all the 2013 Toyotas I still see on the road.

"Well gee, that FR-S was pretty nice, but then that commercial offended me. Guess I'll just get a Genesis."

:dunce:

As a cyclist myself I am not even in the slightest offended or feeling disrespected. If everyone in the comments is "mortified" then yes I believe they're overreacting.

The only thing that offends me in that advert is the tC's styling. Oh and that auto didn't look fun/exciting what so ever. I will agree the advert is terrible, but not for the same reasons.

I would be "offended" if the tc happens to run over the cyclists, but it didn't happen so...

The ad screams BOOOOORING BTW.

I fail to see a problem with the add... there was suppossed to be an offense there????

This made me laugh.

This. It doesn't make me want to buy the car, but doesn't put me off it either. The fact that they showed an automatic instead of a manual certainly shows their target market quite well.

College girls and boys who just signed their lives away on the loan promissory note.

This.

I don't see any issue with it either.

I don't get what the problem is, the idea was to show that it can hadle well enough to avoid sudden obstacles, bikes are a good example as they can share the road with cars and are much slower.

Also, sadly enough I have seen fellow bikers do exactly what they showed in the video(just cut right into traffic without looking). That is more upsetting than anything the Scion did.

Garbage commercial overall, but I have no issue with how the cyclists are used, but for me, it's understood that not everyone sees things the same.

What makes this commercial any worse than another car commercial that "promotes" their car weaving in & out of traffic or that everyone else who doesn't buy their car follows others like sheep?

Stupid thread is stupid.

Oh man I'm so offended I'm selling my MR2 and buying a Chevy.

In Grand Theft Auto, you can run over pedestrians.

I predict a significant drop in sales for Rockstar games.

Tsk. Tsk.

I think the misleading advertising of the tC as a sporty car is more offensive than Cyclist Massacre 2013.

I'm trying really hard to think of a comment here but I don't think anything I say would trump this.
Aside from a .gif that I'm not going to post here on fear of causing actual offense.

Welcome to 2013, where you can hardly take a breath without someone being offended.

This thread offends me

Same here, mostly because the video in OP is not 'private'.
