Have any of you had this close of a race at the test course? I was going all out trying to win and got pretty scared sometimes when they lined up and i got passed back to 3rd or so. But this was one of the cooler races I had. (btw it was the beetle cup in the begginer league.)

1st.)New Beetle RSi - 5'17.556 (me)
2nd.)New Beetle Cup Car - 5'17.619
3rd.)New Beetle Cup Car - 5'17.684
4th.)New Beetle Cup Car - 5'17.752
5th.)New Beetle Cup Car - 5'17.954
6th.)New Beetle Cup Car - 5'18.020

Wow that is close. I actually finished a race in second place by 0:00.000 yesterday. Kinda hacked me off too.

Those close of times are to be expected in a race where all the vehicles are identicle, and the track leaves little room for skilled driving. Still cool though (: How many laps was that?

ahh that sucks... the game should automaticly give you first tho... my race was 2 laps... yeah all the cars are identicle and no skills involved but normally when i race there, there is a car that is a half a lap behind and one a half a lap ahead and 1/4 lap down one too.

wow 0:00.000 ?! did you try to do that on purpose LoudMusic
I've always wondered what would happen in such a case...

Which race was this ??

Those are some close times. Amazing. to give a comparison...

Here's a small excerpt from my GT3, blow by blow compliation. This is a piece of the beetle cup car race around...

Test Course
I adjusted the camber angle to 0.0 F&R. There is very little difference in each car, so I’m taking advantage wherever I can.

New Beetle Cup car: + 0.317
New Beetle Cup car: + 0.381
New Beetle Cup car: + 0.408
New Beetle Cup car: + 0.487
New Beetle Cup car: + 8.762???

Best Lap: 2’35.138

Not sure what happened to the last place car. This race is entirely about drafting, and blocking. With less than ½ second separating 1st - 5th place, I felt like I was commuting to work. I dropped to 5th place entering the last corner, by drafting and blocking (and some nudging) I was able to move up to first and secure the win.

I loved this race.

Hmm ... I was driving an NSX at Tokyo in the N/A series. I was in second and met the winner at the finish line. The possition doesn't change because I never actually passed the other car. If I had been in first prior to the finish line, I would have had first with a 0:00.000 lead.

Thats happened to me before too. Wasn't tat the end of a race, it was at a "check point".

I won the Beginner Altezza R246 race by 0.015" after 3 laps. I drafted him through the last right hander, and barely outdragged him down the long straight.
In the replay I crossed the line ahead by about the thickness of the rub rail on the front bumper.
Now that's the kind of racing I like! I spent a substantial amount of time in each of the 6 positions throughout that race.

So the moral of the story is... buy cars with big bumpers! :D

I think my closest race was at Smokey Mountain Rally II or Swiss Alps II (can't remember which), where I outdid the other car by 0.002 seconds... heh... :)

I crossed backwards that close to second place before. Good ole handbrake spin-outs (:
