www.testdriveunlimited.fr webmaster has uploaded this video of his playtest at Atari France in Lyon. A full report is going to be going up on the website soon and a member of the official boards will be translating it to English shortly thereafter.

The PC beta is available to fileplanet/IGN subscribers right now also though it looks like the 25,000 may be filled now.

The download files show every vehicle from the X360 version excluding these. I also included the pre-orders.

2 files called Eleganza and Sprint. I can only find the Alfa Romeo Sprint as a real vehicle.

'Scuse me for bumping an old thread but word is that today's the day of the public beta! Speaking on behalf of the 360-less, can't wait to give this game a shot :D

Unfortunately, there doesn't appear to be any release of the beta yet (which is why there seems to be a lot of unrest on the Atari boards), but I'll keep you all posted - hopefully it'll be up by the end of the night! ^^

UPDATE: Heh heh, just kidding. Wishful thinkers said beta today, dev's said beta by the end of the month. Hold your breath for a week >.>

UPDATE 1/24: Open beta client was released today after much waiting, however after a few hours it was taken offline (afaik) to prepare for the 'official' launch which was open to paying subscribers to FilePlanet only. Luckily I began downloading the client and by the time the beta is open to the general non-paying public (in 2 days, Friday presumably) hopefully it'll be done - over 3 GB so it's big! Mark the date on your calendar, hopefully it'll be right this time; I've gotten the date from a very kind (and by now overworked) "Beta Test Admin" who seems to know what he's talking about in the thread over in the Atari forums. Be careful when you browse that, profanity is censored but tempers are flaring - makes me glad I have GTP sometime :D
 
Excuse the bump, but I've recently edited the post above with relevant beta info. It doesn't appear to be moving the topic up so I'm bumping it so any other TDU fanatics can get some info on this. ^^ (all 2 of us that haven't tried the 360 version)
 
Really? I like the slow cars personally, I find them amusing (presumably with all the traffic flying by you, doubly so!). If I had a free day I would totally try a lap of the island in a 2CV.

(assuming I could finish it in a day :lol:)

Anyway, beta update again. The "plan" is supposedly 4 PM PST today for open keys for all, but I wouldn't hold my breath...

Maybe it's not such a good idea to be so expectant of probably a half-finished beta but I really would like to demo this game before I buy it ^^

I have my beta key, so now I can finally compare the PC version through my HDTV alongside the Xbox 360 version.
 
I tried dling off fileplanet and says I need an ACCOUNT:nervous:

can anybody hook me up with an account just to dl this? please!!!:)
 
yay finally open :D downloading now. hopefully it will recognize my pedals


you dont have to pay for anything. just make an account. lol

yeah, the open beta just came out later today. so maybe when you checked earlier it was still closed, or yo u didnt refresh ur browser. :p

i'm wating for exteel to go open beta so i can pwn all u guys in that :p
 
I'm downloading the beta again, to see if this Open one contains newer content as the one I downloaded during the closed beta had nothing new.

The only mention is that it said a newer version is required to play online. However, when I click it, I come to a "Cannot Find Server".
 
I just got back home installed it and tried to play... It said "not enough system memory:nervous: "

I guess I need atleast 1gb of ram to run this?
 
the game looks awesome...but how come there just a few cars in it.
I want more benz'es :D

well anyway i suppose i need to get a new laptop, cause with my ati radeon 9200, i dont think i can even download the demo :D
 
the detail level of the game is amazing... if only it were more optimised. even people with super high-end systems are having stuttering problems. hopefully there will be a patch of some sort soon\


the map is huge.. so many different roads. it truly is a next-gen game.
 
semi sim? lol. orly? never knew a solstice had braking and cornering comparible to an f1 car.

What programs do you mainly run on your PC in the taskbar and in the background, also what is the spec of your PC. However have you done any decrementing of late and some cleaning up?
 
Mine is 2.16GHz 20' Intel iMac
only running some standard drivers that comes with bootcamp
basically I only put a few racing sims and fraps
very clean system I think, but never experience anything like that with other games
some people on fileplanet forum have similar hangs as well, bugs maybe?
 
I'm really looking forwards to this game on PC, I did try for a beta key but I think I was too late. :(
I'll just wait a couple weeks for the full release :)
 
Is it still possible to get in the open demo/beta? I can't find it on Fileplanet. Please post a link if its still available.
