I really do love GT5 overall. I've completed most everything with gold; so I'm not a beginner. Admittedly I did not complete all of the Special Events early. Just now started the intermediate Top Gear event and am furious. Most of the game is really pretty great but then something comes up that shows the complete idiocy of the programers.
Who in the he** ever drove a course, with other like cars, where they stick like glue and your (same) car is sliding like ice. I've driven on ice and it holds better.
Every once and a while I'm stymied by AI unfairness, cars that do idiotic physics (not all), and a developer that seems to want control more than letting his clients have what they thought they bought -- a fun good time -- while experiencing a small degree of real simulation.
Sadly those small few moments really show a lack of quality on the developers part. They must not realize it erodes loyalty from clients -- who immediately start looking around -- bad, stupid, business decision made by those solely into themselves. How's that for my RANT?????

I did the first top gear event enough times to get gold, tried the other ones once and then forgot they existed. I suggest you do the same. 👍

Well my rant is about the same.

Um.......

Oh yeah, the other cars hit the cones and I'm not allowed.

Um.......

Oow, and the BBC wasn't there to film me.

The price of chips is too much and they are too soggy as well.

There is no jumps at TGTT.

I've looked for the topless girl at Cote d (Monaco) and can't find her or spell the tracks name.

Bob gets a better time than me there. So he's fired!

Feels good to get it out.

Thanks it's nice to know others feel the same.
RANT RANT RANT

Ya know I do feel a whole lot better. And you're right I can forget the other idiot parts of the game can just be forgotten -- um forgot that-- special thanks.

End of ranting.

I agree, and I wonder who chose the cars for the Top Gear special events also :ouch:

I hated the TGTT Lotus challenge as well... until I figured out how to drive it. Once you figure it out, I think it might just be the best challenge in the game. I love the race now!

1) FULL gas and brake ONLY in a straight line
2) Break early using about 1/2 to 3/4 braking force
3) SLOWLY roll into the gas on corner exit.

Keep practicing... you'll figure it out. If things are going well, you should be in 4th place at the completion of the 1st lap. If you can do that, you can get gold. I wound up outbraking the 1st place car on the very last turn of the 2 lap challenge when I beat it. LOADS of fun!

Actually, since the 1.06 update, the challenge has become significantly easier. You can pretty much bump any car (aside from the first one) and not have to worry much about a fail.

We can clearly tell that you are not a beginner, if you cannot gold this one, how did you manage to gold "most everything"...

Diesel pump, let me guess, you're one of the programers?

No, I'm just one of the other million guys that golded the event with some practice.

Go ahead dude... You can do it... Oh, and if you think that physics, unfairness, intelligence, respect, and other concepts of life should be emulated perfectly, don't play a video game, just an advice that might ease your frustration, you know... ;)

I found the challenge quite easy, you just have to be very smooth (you're driving a high powered sports car on comfort hards, equivlant to the tyres on your average mummy mobile. If you're having trouble with it then do the obvious thing and turn on the traction control, if you're still having trouble then turn on skid force recovery for more grip.

Swallow pride.

Golding the TGTT special events wasnt a problem for me once I realised what I could get away with nudging wise so it was quite easy but I struggle to get anything above Silver in the AMG events where as other people do them with ease, I think its just 1 of those things ya just have to battle on woth to complete

p.s Did anyone find the last 2 licenses difficult to get all golds in? I struggled like mad but blitzed the S license golds with ease :S

The S license is easier than the A intl', sad but true...

It wasn't hard before the 1.06 nerf if you stopped and learned from the mistakes you made on the previous run :sly:

I just get into bizarre land with the licenses. I can't fully Gold the first set of licenses with my wheel and pedals, but I golded C-10 with a pad fairly easily.

There are obviously some techniques that I just can't get right. I mean, I think it's number 4 on the first set of licenses, the hairpin at Tsukuba. I think the gold is something like 18.700, and I cannot, for the life of me, get below 19.000.

I must have literally tried 60 or 70 times, yet C-10, I did within about 10 goes, using the DS3... bizarre in the extreme. Luckily, the licenses are completely pointless in GT5.

I've come to think that the whole TG special events was supposed to show the funny side of car testing like on the show.

Who knows, they probably had the racist ***** from TG actually recommend what events to put on them.

I quite enjoyed it once I figured out how to drive the car! FYI from memory you can hit the plain orange cones but hit the ones with the reflective strip and your out.

The what?

I hate it when a car you have passed just eases slightly off the brakes and into the back of you car. Try again?

Its a tough challenge that requires a lot of throttle control and practice. It's not been badly programmed, you just keep putting too much power down out of the turns.

Golding everything takes little effort.

If you can't handle this car you have no skills.

All this rant about this challenge...
It's easy, I golded it on my 3rd try. If you can't pull it off, even with a bit of practice, you just frankly can't drive.

The variety on this forum is huge. Some people seem to keep whining about how they cant drive, and some are so nicr they give you cars for free!
I'll admit, I can't stand how PD is so ignorant, how uncreative the game is, and how they just spoiled half of the game's fun for me by patching the 1,000,000 trading cap in.
But some people... Some people...
