Text editing help

The options listed at the top when making a post seem limited. I was wondering if there is a way to colourize text, see example 1, and create links without having the whole thing visible, see example 2. A post listing proper formats for such would be a great help as a google search yeilded no helpful results. Is there such a post or what code does this particular forum support? Thanks for your help.

Example 1
[style color="red"]Red Text[/style]

Of course now example 2 works. Does not show it working in preview mode though.

For your example 1, remove the first style and replace the second with color. That should leave you with

[color=red]Red Text[/color]

or Red Text.
