Last night, I was driving with my girlfriend to pick up someone in San Jose. We were bound to exit on Hamilton Ave which had two Exit-Only lanes. I was in the left lane.

Up ahead near the braking point, a clean convertible Porsche (not sure which one. It looked newer) completely stopped in the right lane of the Exit-Only lanes. They then suddenly switched from the right lane into my lane. I slowed down and calmly switched to the right lane so that our trajectory didn't cross.

I wasn't as scared as I should have. I have to thank all the clean drivers online for helping me drive clean during races and overall improving my safe driving reflexes in-game and in real life. If it weren't for you, I would have drove straight into that nice Porsche and total my girlfriend's car. Thank you.

Much love to you all!

As silly as it sounds...

When I first started driving 2 years ago, my mum and I got caught in a hail storm. I hadnt really ever driven in the rain, much less the hail. We pulled off for dinner to let the storm pass.

When we got back on the road, I had found that quite a large amount of hail had accumulated on the road. I pulled out of the parking lot, and the back end of my car let go quite suddenly. I quickly counter-steered, but let off the gas as well. Totally got it back into shape, no problems at all.

I hadn't quite covered that bit in drivers ed, and my mother wasn't sure how I had managed that so quickly.
"It just seemed the right thing to do, I suppose."

To say to her that I may have leared the basics of car control on a video game would have set off a "You know, you cant just respawn in real life" speech. But I really do think that without the years of Gran Turismo, I wouldnt have reacted so calmly or effectively.

Obviously, I'm not saying that GT5 is a perfect simulator, or that it can substitute for actual driving experience.
