That red time is seriously killing me

Should the red time dissapear on the next lap ?

If the guy in the video above was there, at Mercedes Benz world, taking part in the real contest, he would have got a penalty at the exit of turn 1 too. We were not allowed to run over the white line at the edge of the track, even if the game allowed it.

Don't worry about it, everyone is cheating anyway!:lol:
 
I thought it was a pain until you realise the problems DC had on his run.

He had to keep waiting for the brakes to cool so that he could have a good run at another time.

So we have to reset. Same thing in my eyes when you think about it.

I already did a low 1:16.xxx without cheating.............. I don't really like to cheat, the same for using Active steering (cheap).

Maybe I'll change my opinion. We'll see.........
 
you can go backward and drift to get the tyres on temp

what lap is also cheated, does anyone know?
 
I'd say there's a definite problem when you can get a "Next Lap Invalid" before even hitting the start line, run a clean lap, and still have an invalid lap on your second lap :yuck:

Having no cones also means he can take a faster line, and a faster time:yuck:
That kind of cutting could mean .500, even an entire second, of time off of a lap:ouch:

Since when is such cutting acceptable in an event like this?
 
Since always, that's pretty much how these things work, they want it to be close, so they try to make it close. They didn't let him cut the corner because they wanted him to win, they let him cut the corner because they couldn't penalize him once he did. You can't insult your guest of honor with a penalty for "cutting". :lol:
 
I enjoy this challenge.

However I tried to run 5 consecutive laps not red in the 1.20.XXX yesterday and did not manage it. Yes I have some improvement points to work on.
I have no issue that they make the lap red when I cross the line, not that they invalidate the next lap when you try to cut the last corners to have a faster start for the next lap.

However I do not like restarts, the red lap worked fine before in TT Arcade mode (turning white again on the next OK lap), they changed the system for this TT. Why?

If it is not broken, do not fix it!
 
To be honest, cutting at that point illustrated in the image above like DC did wouldn't make a blind bit of difference to the lap time anyway. The cuts made by the guy in the video a few posts up would be much more significant to time saving.

Except his brakes would still be warm, as would his tyres. When you reset, your car is completely cold... I just don't have the discipline to do some slower laps before attacking, so I pretty much always overcook some corners that I could pull off if I had warmer tyres. I doubt anyone got gold on their very first lap, yet it's so easy to get disqualified on the first few.

Edit: if I've just repeated what other people have already pointed out, I only really read the post I quoted.

That's just dumb man! I mean why go three laps in the red when you know they aren't going to count? As soon as I see the time go red, I hit the start key, right d-pad, and the x, whala I'm starting a fresh lap that will count!
 
Ok, now tat we have had a good day and a half here in the States, which is the best replay to use that shows all the shortcuts used to the best advantage?

Leave the rule. Last time I checked I think a GTP user had top time (Surely to have changed now). 👍 👍 I managed a 1.17.722 as a complete lap, ON A DS3. I think anyone could do it. Just learn to drive and not make PD make it change.

Haha, cracking work PD. Put one tire even a millimetre onto the follow through rumble strip and it's a penalty, completely cut one corner by several yards and it's fine.

Two of us are attempting this challenge. Neither has incurred any penalties, yet we are consistently getting red after red. Neither has a counting lap time yet. We're not the greatest drivers on here, but both consistently beating Bronze time and nudging silver. There has to be something wrong if we're not being recognised for our Bronze drives.

We've tried that and it doesn't work. Seems once you've redded it's going to continue redding every lap after that, and that means every clean lap - which we've been managing.

Restarting does work, if you are getting red laps you must be going off track.

restarting does work as it tells you that before starting the event. if any time is invalid you have to restart. as soon as your time goes red. hit the button
 
YEAHHHH!!! PD Fixed the event and I got gold. Power of the people and all that :lol:
