I have had it with all of the hackers in GTA IV. I. Love. This. Game. But these god-moding, speedhacking, idiots with modded guns that never run out of ammo make this game UNPLAYABLE. I doubt I will ever return to the multiplayer of this game.

The game could have a good future, but we need to contact Rockstar Games to fix this game. Sure they are working their butts off with GTA V, but they can get a small team to fix this problem.

Same thing with TBOGT. Ugh, forget GTA IV. I'm playing Vice City and San Andreas for now.

Multiplayer was probably one of the best things about IV/EFLC. But it's not fun when you put three rounds from an AK-47 into some idiot hacker's chest after he hops out of his Infernus glowing blue and one-shots you with a PISTOL.

Hybriding in GT5 is ok because you can deal with them easily. In GTA IV, there is little way to avoid them considering they are in EVERY lobby. I would rather lose a gunfight to someone that is playing legitimately than some hacker.

I could care less about what is done on PC, as I don't play on it. But playing with a trainer on PC is fine as long as you don't be an a-hole, plus you can put on god mode so you don't have to worry about the annoying hackers. Hackers on PS3 are unreasonably hostile and shoot anything that moves. I just cruise around/search new stunt locations in motorcycles. I rarely shoot at anyone unless its to protect myself (which never ends up well)

I know the pain. I used to have lots of fun with friends. We'd drive around in black SUVs actin' like we own the place.
We'd shoot everyone who was close to us.

That's not possible anymore. :grumpy:
But there's really nothing we can do..

Yes it is, you just put private slots to max and no one but your friends can enter the lobby...

You should play with me then. I do the same, though I only own IV and TBoGT, for PlayStation 3.

What 'future' do you think of? GTA IV was released 2008, it's been 5 years. Do you really expect a 'good future' with lots of online popularity, people playing IV online forever if V comes in a couple of months?

This. If you play in open lobbies in IV, you have to expect modders these days, and deal with their actions, or leave and play with friends.

To be honest, I don't see why you would rage about modders free roaming in Liberty City, there's no big difference between shooting people with legit game weapons, and doing it with insane mod guns. That person plays like a jerk anyway, and will annoy you anyway.

I see your point if such modders use their abilities to destroy other game modes, but the only modes where I've seen modders were death matches, which are way too balanced and plain to be taken serious anyway.

Well of course but if you want to play a public match, you just have to sit there and let the hackers hack.

The reason why I played in open lobbies was because you never know what could happen. Maybe you could pull off an incredible stunt in front of some guy shooting at you with an RPG, help a new player escape from an attacking Annihilator, help a group of people escape from the cops after going kamikaze in a Buzzard, huddling inside a Burger Shot whilst a noob in a Buzzard attacks you and kill the pilot with a pistol (my greatest online moment ever), etc. Private lobbies are fun, but not as fun as open lobbies.

This might sound cruel, but you'll either have to take these modders as new additional random happenings in open multiplayer, or acknowledge the good old tiimes in the past years of IV multiplayer are pretty much over.

Sad, but true.
It was bound to happen, as it does with pretty much every online game that's been out for a few years.

(CoD: WaW and MW2, which were fun to play online in their day.)

It's interesting though as I have met a few nice hackers, one who was funny, destorying my Aussie mate because he started on him but he never touched me. He eventualy started mucking around with weird car mods and let us play with some. (I took pics as it was crazy)

Another is a friend who doesn't really care for random killing etc, unless they killed me or our mates ofc.. He mostly built invincible cars, with unique paints, for us and sometimes made us unkillable too, dunno how though. (He made me a Blue/Gold Mafia Uranus like Harveys BTCC Sierra once ) He also annoyed people who killed us by making a car getting out letting them get inside and like a bait car, shut it down and locked all the doors . (Sometimes he'd play a joke on me, where he could take over control of the car while I was driving :p)

Then theres the other side where this one guy would mod you into a walking ferris wheel with flamethrower in your direction of travel, bright lights which he did every time you spawned, making it unplayable..

I recall driving in a hacked car once... Not all hackers are making "killingsprees" 👍.

But that's 80% of the lobbies I've joined. Also, they build these giant objects in the sky over the airport which lag out the lobby and make it difficult to drive stunt jumps/drag race with people.

Bumping this topic...
Yesterday a friend and I joined a public free roam, where two people were battling in helicopters. I rushed to the airport and hijacked one of the Buzzards there, then joined the fight. I held off until one of the helis was shot down, then moved in and immobilized the surviving chopper.

After around 10 minutes of heli-wars, we called a truce, then me and my friend hopped into a brown Dukes. We headed to Algonquin, and were joined by the other two members, as we engaged in a shootout against the police (cops were switched on). We hijacked a nearby Enforcer, smashing our way through the pursuing police cars and swat trucks. We stopped at the boat docks in The Meat Quarter, and hopped into a Jetmax. Luckily the two guys who were in the back were armed with machine guns, and proceeded to shoot down the pursuing Annihilator.

While all of this was going on, we hadn't noticed a modder had joined, and was doing the typical modder thing of being a 🤬 to non-modders. He proceeded to suddenly despawn our boat, and set off explosions all around us, killing us all. Upon respawning, we had buoys, trees, and car wash scrubbers attached to us. I ended up leaving and joining a much calmer modder-free lobby.

Rockstar needs to go the Max Payne 3 route and make "modders only" lobbies, so we don't need to deal with this sort of crap.

Oh yeah this was on XBOX by the way.

Its annoying when people uses hacks/mods wrong way.
Isn't that a bit like giving a child an endless amount of candy, but expecting them to only eat one piece and share the rest with those less fortunate?

Today I've come to the conclusion that it's not always the modders that ruin GTA IV free roam for me; it's the idiots that get modded cars from said modder and think they're all tough running everyone over and being a complete 🤬.
I'm very close to trading in my copy of this game, because I've lost all hope for the mental state of the people who play this game. It's absolutely annoying when I can't even run after respawning because I get squished and battered and beaten by idiots driving modded cars.
It's a good thing Rockstar are putting a lockdown on GTA V's multiplayer as far as modders/cheaters go, because if they didn't care, I would kiss this franchise goodbye. Sorry but that's how I feel (just my opinion). Modders and modder kiss-ups have ruined this game for me.
